US Experiencing “Boom” in Clean Energy Investment: Over 100,000 Green Jobs Expected

AUSTIN, TEXAS More than 100,000 green jobs are expected to burst into the United States labor market in the months ahead as the country experiences a billion-dollar boom in clean energy investment.

This data was confirmed by Climate Power, an independent communications and media operation centering on sustainability throughout the USA. The organization recently published a report citing “the 101,036 (and counting) new clean energy jobs” that are expected across the US.

It attributed this massive growth in renewable energy and the green economy, in part, to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that was passed last August. Among other goals, the new federal law aims to help encourage investment in clean energy, thereby giving the sector an economic boost.

“Already, the new law has significantly benefited local economies, and will provide family-sustaining wages in ZIP codes from coast to coast,” Climate Power said.

Further, it noted, “Companies are racing forward with massive investments to build our clean energy future.”

Thousands of New Green Jobs

In its report, Climate Power provided a breakdown of the enormous investments in the green economy by state as well as by field.

“New manufacturing in wind, solar, batteries and electric vehicles — along with storage projects across the country — mean new, good-paying jobs for hardworking Americans,” it said.

“In the six months since the landmark climate and clean energy investments became law, clean energy companies have announced more than 100,000 new clean energy jobs for electricians, mechanics, construction workers, technicians, support staff and many others.”

Just shy of 50 million-dollar, and even billion-dollar, investment projects have already been launched in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas since the IRA was passed.

Additionally, Climate Power said, “Clean energy companies have announced 101,036 new jobs in 31 states between August 16, 2022 to January 31, 2023.

“As of January 31, 2023, there are over 90 new clean energy projects in small towns and bigger cities nationwide, totaling $89.5 billion in new investments.

“Plans include 40 new battery manufacturing sites in places like Van Buren Township, Michigan; Tucson, Arizona; and Florence County, South Carolina.

“So far, 22 companies have announced plans for new or expanded electric vehicle manufacturing in Pryor, Oklahoma; Montgomery, Alabama; Highland Park, Michigan and more.

“A further 24 companies shared plans to expand wind and solar manufacturing in cities including Pueblo, Colorado; Perrysburg, Ohio; and Georgetown, Texas.”
