About Us
American Public Power Association
The American Public Power Association (APPA) is the service organization for the nation's more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities that serve more than 49 million Americans. The association was created in 1940 as a non-profit, non-partisan organization to advance the public policy interests of its members and their consumers, and to provide member services to ensure adequate, reliable electricity at a reasonable price with the proper protection of the environment.
Sustainability
The American Public Power Association is committed to promoting sustainable energy practices among its member utilities. The association supports initiatives that enhance energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. However, specific details on their sustainability metrics, such as ESG reports or carbon footprint calculations, are not readily available.
