General Information: The Environmental and Recycling Lead will provide support to enhance the sustainability efforts of the facility by performing a multitude of tasks including, but not limited to, identifying, consolidating, collecting, and transporting hazardous, non-hazardous, and recyclable materials.

This position is responsible for: - Performs, leads, and assigns the activities of waste and recycling activities to ensure performance expectations and production schedules are met timely and with the highest level of quality.
- Performs and monitors all activities associated with the collection, replacement, disposal/destruction, and shipment of hazardous, non-hazardous, and recyclable materials in accordance with federal, state, local regulations, and company standard operating procedures.
- Identifies and recommends new equipment and/or methods to improve productivity and capacity.
- Communicates performance expectations to department employees and escalates concerns to leadership for resolution.
- Collaborates with other departments to improve operations and participates in special projects as requested.
- Coordinates logistics activities with the material control department and external transportation vendors.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of supplies, including but not limited to, totes, drums, and labels, required to support the operation of the facility.
- Monitors and maintains the conditions of all hazardous, non-hazardous and recycling storage areas and all related equipment.
- Supports the EHS Specialist and Facilities Supervisor with monitoring and communicating the activities of the recycling techs to ensure safe and maximum performance.
- Collaborates with all departments to reduce waste, cost and risk associated with the environmental activities performed at the facility.
- Assists with the execution of the sustainability programs set forth by corporate and local leadership.
- Participates in environmental audits, identifies corrective actions, and follows up with leadership on recommended improvements to ensure compliance with HAZMAT, DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Participates in training and maintains knowledge regarding current recycling methods, stream identification, waste mitigation, DOT regulations, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Supports the safety initiatives and processes that help identify and correct any unsafe work conditions. Provides recommendations for improvement to management and the safety department.
- Maintain department related equipment including balers and PIT's. Scheduled third party vendors to perform needed maintenance on such equipment
- Completes and maintains electronic and/or written records, including shipping manifests, audit documents and other required documentation associated with the handling of hazardous, non-hazardous, and recyclable materials, SOPs, Work Instructions, and other paperwork according to established company policy.
- Maintains confidentiality of customer information, product information, and other sensitive and confidential information.
- Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands. Performs other related duties as required.
Education & Experience:- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent degree required.
- Minimum two years of environmental waste and recycling experience, preferably in a regulated and GMP environment.
- Minimum two years of forklift experience.
- RCRA and Hazardous Waste Management Certification, OSHA 10 hour or 30-hour Certification, 40 Hour HAZWOPER and DOT Hazardous Materials Management Certificate are all strongly preferred.
