We are looking for a Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability who will join our ESG team in Marysville, OH or Port Washington, NY.As Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability, you will be responsible for advancing our ESG vision and GroMoreGood strategy, driving forward innovative sustainability strategy, disclosures and programs designed to enable communities and our partners to flourish through stronger relationships, and create meaningful engagement inside and outside of the company that will center on our environmental, social and corporate governance work. You will do this work in close partnership with cross-functional teams to support our partners, customers, and the local communities in which we operate. The ideal candidate will have experience and subject matter expertise in corporate sustainability/ESG strategy, reporting and disclosure and project management; she/he will have a proven record of helping companies implement sustainability/ESG strategies, deliver sustainability/ESG reporting, and/or realize strategy implementation programs.What you'll do in this role: • Report to the Director of ESG & Social Impact, working collaboratively to produce comprehensive sustainability disclosures, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and demonstrating the company's commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainable practices to internal and external stakeholders. • Collect, analyze and interpret ESG data; support and produce ESG reporting (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and disclosures (e.g., SMG's annual Corporate Responsibility Report, CDP, CSA, MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS). • Manage programs and projects with cross-functional teams to support sustainability in areas including, but not limited to, packaging, climate, water, waste, forestry, etc. • Support climate-related projects, such as greenhouse gas inventories, climate risk assessments, emission reductions, energy efficiency, action planning, modeling of targets, public disclosure and verification. • Implement and support ESG data management systems and processes. • Assist in the facilitation of ESG governance processes, procedures and reporting in support of the ESG Steering Committee, ESG Team, and various ESG subcommittees, including meeting presentations, agendas and content development. • Collaborate across the enterprise to support sustainability initiatives, ESG goal setting and implementation and management of the communication of ESG strategy, goals and performance. • Work with business units to respond to and support retailers' sustainability initiatives, reporting and storytelling. • Engage with a network of strategic and innovative environmental NGOs in the critical areas of water quality and conservation, climate change and habitat creation for pollinators. What you'll need to be successful: • Bachelor's degree required in business, environmental science, sustainability or communications is preferred.• 5+ years of experience in ESG, CSR and/or Sustainability or related field within another company.• Excellent communication skills to develop successful internal and external stakeholder partnerships.• Possess a thorough understanding of third-party ESG ratings (e.g., MSCI, ISS, CDP), financial reporting and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB and TCFD), and public company disclosures (e.g., Sustainability Reports, 10-Ks, proxy statements, earnings materials).
• Experience driving solutions and programs in corporate sustainability and operations, and working on sustainability strategies.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of corporate responsibility, including knowledge of ENGOs, environmental and regulatory issues, industry best practices, and leading-edge sustainability trends and concepts, to develop the team's understanding of these issues to inform decision making.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail, including the ability to develop business cases, supervise the development of analytics and metrics, set goals and identify gaps and opportunities for new projects and programs.
• Experience in leading change and implementing new ideas and concepts.
• Effective in project management with an established track record of successfully overseeing both short- and long term initiatives with interim and measurable goals.
• Strong management, leadership, and team building skills.
• Willing to travel up to 25% of time; hybrid or remote work schedule available.The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $108,300.00 - $127,400.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.
