Under the direction of the EHS Direction Innovation directs the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive environment, health and safety management system for the Nike's fast paced and dynamic innovation labs (maker spaces). Innovation redefines how, when and where our product is made and what our product is made from. In innovation labs we identify, develop and test new designs to create game-changing product for our athletes*. This is an individual contributor position, responsible for supporting all EHS facets of innovation including standards development, injury/incident management, electrical safety, chemistry, and machine safety in multiple locations on the Beaverton campus as well as providing advisory support to other innovation spaces globally.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of being an effective and agile business partner, have experience in R&D environments involving both innovative chemistries as well as equipment, have practical manufacturing experience and be well versed in regulatory requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON- Develop, implement, sustain and improve comprehensive EHS management system and programs in support of the Nike EHS Policy and Global Standards.
- Provide strategic oversight as well day to day EHS support to the various innovation labs, in collaboration with key business partners, continuously drive improvement in health and safety measures, instilling world class safety culture.
- Develop programs and standards to ensure compliance with regulations (federal, state and local) consensus standards, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with innovation labs stakeholders on conducting risk assessment for new equipment, materials and other product innovation, design and development projects.
- Participate in incident investigations, perform root cause analysis for all injuries and "near misses," train managers to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis.
- Provides EHS leadership and expertise on industry best practices for new innovation projects.
- Develop program and system for coordinating and conducting EHS training for all employees, contractors and site visitors; ensures proper training documentation and maintains training record files as indicated by Nike's policy and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates/conducts health and industrial hygiene monitoring and inspection activities.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITHThis position is part of a larger global Environmental Health & Safety and Resilience team at Nike. You will report to Environmental Health & Safety Director -Innovation. Your day to day work will involve very close collaboration with key Innovation business partners to develop and maintain EHS programs and Culture of Safety. Your will work to develop and implement EHS programs based on global EHS strategic initiatives plus any specific business risks and needs.
WHAT YOU BRING- Bachelor's degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field preferred.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) other relevant local equivalent preferred.
- 6+ years practical Environmental Health & Safety experience at a large global company with R&D and/or manufacturing operations and world class safety programs.
- Demonstrated skills to build trusted relationships with key business partners within large matrixed organization
- Experience with conducting machine safety risk assessments based on applicable machine safety standards
- Experience with developing and maintaining chemical/material safety program
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and their state equivalents as well as other applicable global and industry environmental, health and safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop all components of successful and sustainable safety programs.
- Proficiency in conducting root cause investigations and emergency response programs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and thoroughly audit facilities as well as assist in addressing audit findings.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a business case in support of EHS initiative
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective standards and train personnel with differing levels of education and experience.
