Biohabitats is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect with a strong background in ecology and experience in nature-based design and/or ecological restoration to join our Southeast Atlantic Bioregion team.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, analytical, design, and graphic communication skills that can be applied to a variety of projects including planning studies, in-field ecological assessments, preparation of design plans and construction documents, and materials to support community engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will work with our multidisciplinary team of scientists, landscape architects, and engineers to lead and support ecological restoration, conservation, climate adaptation and resiliency, and environmental justice work for government, private, and non-governmental organizations.

Role and Responsibilities - Serving as Project Manager or Technical Lead on projects.
- Leading and supporting a range of planning and design projects related to ecological restoration, conservation, climate adaptation and resiliency, and environmental justice.
- Creating site-specific concept designs.
- Preparing design drawings, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conducting natural resources and watershed inventories and field assessments.
- Providing graphic communication oversight and input on projects and proposals.
- Leading and participating in community engagement initiatives.
- Supporting Southeast Atlantic Bioregion business development activities, including maintaining client relationships, lead generation, and proposal writing.
Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge - Professional experience related to ecological restoration, conservation, and climate adaptation and resiliency.
- Applied experience leading and supporting design projects (e.g., grading, soils, planting plans, and habitat enhancement features, etc.) from concept through construction drawings.
- Community engagement experience.
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Microsoft 365.
- 3+ years of project management experience.
- Experience developing proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
- Business development and professional networking experience throughout the Southeast.
- Strong graphic, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeastern United States.
- Love for wild nature and a dedication to restore the earth and inspire ecological stewardship is a must.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Knowledge - Familiarity with Southeast ecosystems.
- Native plant identification and habitat assessments.
- Construction oversight of ecological restoration and native planting.
- Experience or familiarity with Living Building Challenge, SITES, and LEED.
- Familiarity with Rhino 3d, SketchUp, and Lumion.
Education Master's degree in Landscape Architecture with a background in ecology or related discipline.
Years of Relevant Experience 12+ years of relevant experience as a Landscape Architect with an emphasis on ecological design.
Professional Registration Registered Professional Landscape Architect
Salary Range $95,000 - $115,000
Location South Carolina or North Carolina
