Job PurposeThe Process Engineer monitors and improves processes in order to maintain and enhance Quality, Health/Safety/Environmental, Delivery and Costs/Efficiency.
Is responsible for the site implementation of new products & manufacturing processes, including product transfers, in-sourcing, MOC'S and New Product Introductions.
Key Responsibilities - Monitors the process performance through metrics such as RFT, MME, OEE, cost productivity, and customer complaints, and acts as required to correct adverse trends, performing GEMBA-based process investigations.
- Develops plans to improve the above performance through focused improvement activities (in conjunction with the operations group) along with capital project and other CI/ALPS initiatives. Utilizes CI tools such as A3, Lean/6-sigma to drive change projects.
- Interfaces with offsite functions such as R&D/Marketing/Supply chain and Engineering/Technical at other manufacturing sites for the industrialization of new products, new raw materials, new packaging and recipe changes ensuring that changes on site are controlled and managed.
- Provides expertise for onsite operations group during process related troubleshooting issues.
- For capital projects, executes process studies, contributes to pre-projects and performs initial project scoping and business case development. Able to execute small capital projects (<$250k)
- During project execution, plays a major role in commissioning, start-up and training, and then owning the technology for the site.
- Manages and contributes on various aspects of the site Process Safety Management system. Manages a defined set of PSI documents to assure the are properly reviewed and kept up-to-date as required by OSHA PSM and company requirements. Participates in Hazard Studies, with an intention to grow into a hazard study leader.
Job Requirements - BS in Engineering or Chemistry required (Chemical engineer preferred)
- 3 years' experience in process engineering/manufacturing support
- Preferred candidate will have experience in a chemistry/coatings/resin plant and be familiar with implementing OSHA PSM.
- Candidate should show demonstrated process improvements through structured methodology (A3, root cause, PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma, etc). Certifications (Green/Black belt) are preferred.
- Candidate must have strong Microsoft Office/Power BI/Sharepoint skills. Experience with DCS/ABB control system is a plus.
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) capable of conversing and being understood by employees at all levels of the supply chain. Exceptional aptitude in technical writing, particularly for Standard Operating Procedures and Training documents, is required.
Rewards & BenefitsBase salary range for this role is: $85,000 to $91,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
