This OpportunityWSP is seeking an
Early Career Water Resources Engineer to work out of our
Redmond, WA office.
Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the analysis, development, and design of processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, pollution control and treatment, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of water resources. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.
Your Impact - Complete hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using spreadsheet-based tools, and/or software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS programs, or other 2D hydrodynamic modeling tools (i.e., HEC-RAS 2D, TUFLOW, etc.).
- Assess open-channel and floodplain erosion and scour processes and develop mitigation strategies such as scour countermeasures considering environment and natural design (i.e., fish passage, habitat, etc.).
- Assess geomorphic and sediment transport processes.
- Complete basin or site-scale water balance and water supply assessments using software such as GoldSim.
- Design storm drain, culverts, pressurized piping/pump systems, open channels and diversions.
- Prepare civil layout, grading and/or drainage design (i.e., Autodesk Civil3D).
- Develop construction documents including design drawings and specifications.
- Provide on-site construction quality assurance (CQA) and construction oversight.
- Conduct field investigations, such as surface water measurement and sampling.
Complete training on assigned tasks. - Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You AreRequired Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with the concepts of professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses - recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications: - Engineer in Training Certification.
- Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation:Expected Salary (all locations): $56,300 - 84,400
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
