Our Sustainability Programs, Risk and Reporting (SPRR) team has an outstanding opportunity for a strategic problem solver with a passion for sustainability who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment. We are seeking an Executive Director to lead our Remediation and Environmental Policy team who will proactively manage our global remediation portfolio with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation, and lead enterprise environmental policy analysis and due diligence. This position is based in
Tukwila, WA.
Key responsibilities include: Remediation
- Lead enterprise team responsible for managing a diverse, global portfolio of complex remediation projects including current operating sites and third-party owned sites
- Develop and implement strategies and solutions to meet remediation compliance obligations and mitigate risk
- Build relationships and work collaboratively with regulatory agencies, external parties and internal stakeholders throughout all phases of remediation from investigation to operation and maintenance
- Partner with Law, Government Operations, and Communications to publicly represent Boeing at community and public meetings and interact with government regulators, public officials, NGOs and other key stakeholders
- Partner with Law on regulatory compliance, allocation proceedings regarding our portfolio of remediation sites
- Prepare, manage and communicate remediation portfolio budget of environmental liabilities to senior management; conduct financial, project status and risk reviews across the portfolio
Due Diligence
- Lead GES due diligence assessment and risk mitigation for property transactions and corporate development (mergers, acquisitions, divestments)
- Partner with Global Real Estate, Corporate Development and Legal teammates to identify risks and mitigation plans
- Apply knowledge of project and program management best practices to manage cost, schedule and risk to ensure technical integrity and business goals are achieved
Environmental Policy
- Lead enterprise regulatory policy analysis of laws, regulations, policies at local, state, US and non-US level regarding environmental and sustainability topics
- Lead advocacy efforts to influence emerging policy, legislation, regulations to protect Boeing's business interests in partnership with Law, Government Operations and Communications
- Communicate regulatory requirements and risk mitigation plans to business units and cross-functional partners
- Provide strategic planning and implementation support to business partners for significant environmental permitting and compliance strategies (e.g. storm water, air emissions, etc.)

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including ability to establish relationships and build trust with key stakeholders including customers, peers, business and functional partners, and team members
- Excellent written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills for internal and external audiences at all levels
- Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies and leading engagements with external audiences
- Experience leading diverse teams of technical and academic experts, consensus building and decision making on complex regulatory/technical matters, and coordination with other responsible parties and their contractors
- Critical thinking, problem solving and strategic decision making
- Collaborative approach to teamwork & partnership
- Strong program/project management experience
- Financial acumen including working knowledge of FASB accounting standards codes related to environmental remediation liabilities
- Proficient to sophisticated in presentation development/PowerPoint and data analysis/Excel

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic/Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a senior leader or manager
- Minimum 5 years of experience with environmental compliance or regulations
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management
- Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of experience managing environmental compliance, investigation, remediation activities and projects
Experience managing and directing contractors on environmental remediation projects
Experience with state and federal regulatory requirements and policy, such as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), including reviewing and interpreting environmental regulations relating to remediation work
10+ years of experience managing environmental compliance, investigation, remediation activities and projects
- Direct experience working closely with regulatory agency staff, supporting public outreach activities and compliance proceedings (e.g. permit hearings, etc.)
- Advanced degree (Master's degree or above) in related field

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $203,000 - $254,000
