Acts as site manager in absence of Aquatic Program Coordinator (APC), Assistant Aquatic Program Coordinator (AAPC) or when scheduled as shift supervisor. First review of applications is 11/24/2024.
Minimum Qualifications:Current ARC Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent)
Current ARC CPR:PR Certification (or equivalent)
Demonstrate competency in written and oral communication
Availability to be on call 2 to 3 days a week including weekends
Basic competencies in Excel, Word, Publisher and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications:Current ARC Lifeguard Instructor Training Certification (or will obtain within 6 months of hiring.)
Previous ExperiencePrior experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor required. Ideal candidate will have prior supervisor experience with a team of 10 or more employees. Preferred candidate will have prior experience coordinating and supervising staff training, developing a team atmosphere, and managing a staff schedule.
Nature of WorkThe job requires that the employee work a flexible shift so he/she may supervise the entire spectrum of the aquatic's operation. This may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate will adequately balance the APC and other Head Guards in both strengths and weaknesses. The effective management of both facilities (Reaney and PAC) will depend on the coordination of the Aquatic Program Coordinator, Assistant Aquatic Program Coordinator and other head guards. Together an effective team will develop programing that continues to promote the philosophies of the Pullman P&R department
Duties and Responsibilities:Maintenance- Assist APC, AAPC and Head Guard of Operations and Maintenance in supervision of daily maintenance for the facility.
- Perform basic maintenance around the Pullman Aquatic Center.
- Weekly cleaning tasks such as laundry and inventory/stocking.
Administrative duties- Assumes responsibilities of facility in the Aquatic in APC, AAPC absence
- Have knowledge of Rec1 and administration work related to memberships, customer service and daily reports.
- Responsible for the safety of participants and staff in facility.
- Attends and contributes information to management meetings.
- Assists facility operation as needed (may include staff training, cleaning, safety, customer service, and supervision). Be effective at pro-active management and reactive as necessary.
- Weekly check for damages to equipment or first aid supplies.
- Weekly checks of First Aid, AED and rescue supplies.
- Provides leadership and attempts to resolve staff and patron conflict.
- Organize, maintain, copy and file all paperwork, in a timely manner, related to training and development of both facilities.
- Communicates policy and procedures and any operational and program changes to staff, supervisor and appropriate city personnel.
Swim Lesson Programs and Instruction- Teach, educate, and operate classes to better meet the needs of the facilities' swim instruction program. Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
- Contribute knowledge, experience, and quality work ethic to all swim lesson instruction.
- Enforce rules of facility as a leader and a follower.
- Assists APC and HG-PSE in orientation, training, and evaluation of lessons employees.
Lifeguard and Front Desk- Work as Lifeguard/Swim Instructor 75%, in office/administrative 25 %
- Work as Front Desk as necessary

Uniform Requirements:Expecting to model lifeguard and swim instructor dress code
During office hours;
Navy Blue, Khaki pants or shorts, Jeans without rips and holes or appropriate business casual bottoms.
Facility issued t-shirt, tank, or golf shirt or appropriate business casual shirt.
Navy Blue, Red, White or Yellow sweatshirt/ Jacket with no or minimal logos or Facility issues clothing.

Hours of Employment:Flexible scheduling, prefer 15 - 25 hours a week. May need to work 6 days / week and/or split shifts. Must be the guard on call two to three days a week. Must be available every Sundays, and 1 Saturday a month.
Pay Rate: $17.50 / hour
