The Sustainability Manager is the primary technical expert for short-term and long-term sustainability strategies, sustainability in the manufacturing business sector, utility and energy analysis for production, manufacturing, and facilities management, waste reduction, cost saving opportunities, and utility and energy intensity reduction to positively impact business practices, identity, culture, and costs.
Responsibilities- Support or lead remote and in-person meetings to clearly establish tasks, targets, and goals as part of standard work.
- Support or lead assessments and investigations, data gathering, data analysis and interpretation, address actions, and communicate or present results.
- Review, update, and create procedures, programs, and work-related document.
- Ensure compliance with Vitro standards, industry standards, customer requirements, and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Directly engage, train, coach, and support personnel in EHS, Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering to address and drive sustainability matters.
- Manage all tasks, actions, and projects advanced or assigned to the role.
- Monitor, manage, communicate and report on key indicators and metrics.
QualificationsTraining, course work, and/or certifications in ISO 50001 Energy Management, US Department of Energy (USDOE) Programs, US Green Building Council (USGBC) Programs, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Training and Programs, Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA).
- Bachelor Degree of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, etc.), Environmental Resource Management, Sustainability, or a similar technical major.
- Minimum 10 years of technical and managerial experience with focus on intensity reduction, waste reduction, and sustainability in the manufacturing or heavy industrial business sectors.
- Must have the ability to work independently and as a dependable team member to complete actions and achieve results in a fast-paced business environment.
- Must have the skill set to perform assessments and investigations, gather value-add data, analyze and interpret data, identify and address actions, and present results.
- Must have a strong understanding and skill set for mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
- Be a hands-on working manager with the expectation that sufficient time is spent on the shop floor working with personnel and team members, coaching and training personnel, problem solving, assessments and analysis, implementing actions, and driving positive acumen, behaviors, culture, and results.
- Must have strong and influential communication skills (both written and verbal) due to frequent interactions with all levels of plant and corporate personnel, vendors, contractors, third-party and regulatory agencies, and customers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Software, Excel, Word, Power Point, CAD, and Outlook.
