About the Role:As the
Solid Waste & Recycling Supervisor, you will oversee section resources to efficiently deliver one of the following services:
Solid Waste Collection and Disposal. Reporting directly to a
Solid Waste Division Manager, this role is responsible for planning, organizing, and reporting on section projects. Key duties include monitoring daily work activities and budget expenditures, as well as coordinating efforts with other divisions, departments, and agencies.
You will respond to and investigate citizen requests for service and complaints, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution. Additionally, you will handle the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of employees within your section. Ensuring the proper use of safety equipment and adherence to safe operating procedures is essential. This includes compliance with departmental policies, environmental regulations, OSHA standards, and other applicable requirements.
This position also plays a significant role in the
development and oversight of annual contracts for the section. Moreover, it requires participation in emergency response situations-such as snow and ice removal or storm debris removal-with little to no advance notice. Work schedules may include weekends and holidays as required by the department.
This position is classified as
EXEMPT under FLSA.
Salary Information:- Full Salary Range: $60,677.00 - $108,580.00 Annually
- Hiring Range: $60,677 - $79,838 (depending on qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:- Manage resources to deliver Solid Waste Collection and Disposal services efficiently.
- Plan, organize, and report on section projects; monitor daily activities and budgets.

Typical DutiesWhat You Bring:Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 4 to 6 years of years progressive experience in the solid waste field
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (NCDL)
- 3+ years of Supervisory or management experience
