The City of Lebanon is looking for a motivated professional to join the Solid Waste Division within the Department of Public Works as a recycling attendant. The Recycling Attendant performs skilled labor tasks involving the operations and maintenance of the recycling facility located at the Solid Waste Facility. During inclement weather and winter snow operations this position is required to assist in seasonal snow operations and to respond to emergency situations as necessary. Responds to snow emergencies to shovel and remove snow and ice from walkways steps and pavements; assists equipment operators in plowing sanding and/or salting operations. May be assigned to drive 1-ton and/or sidewalk plow. Working outside of normal scheduled hours weekdays and on weekends in inclement weather is required. All Public Works positions are required to participate in winter snow operations inclement weather & seasonal events and other emergency related activities. Overtime is required outside of the normal scheduled hours of this position. Overtime includes 2nd and/or 3rd shifts responding to emergency situations including participation on weekends when required. CDL required within 12 months of hire.

The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar; related or a logical assignment to the position.Operates the recycling facilities; monitors disposal; and performs processing; operates equipment.Inspects inbound loads for compliance with policies; procedures; and city ordinances.Determines product type and disposal rate.Maintains accurate records of all outbound and inbound loads in accordance with established policies and procedures; prepares daily; weekly; and monthly reports.Performs daily checks and preforms preventive and on-going maintenance as necessary to maintain the facilities and equipment.Performs general maintenance on the recycling facilities and scale house to include housekeeping; painting; light carpentry; and other maintenance tasks required to keep the scale house in good condition.Cleans up trash and material left by customers.Ensures customers are leaving material in the proper location and assists with questions.Responds to snow emergencies to shovel and remove snow and ice from walkways steps and pavements; assists equipment operators in plowing; sanding and/or salting operations. May be assigned to drive 1-ton and/or sidewalk plow. Working outside of normal scheduled hours weekdays and on weekends in inclement weather is required.Performs walk around inspection on assigned equipment and preventive maintenance tasks such as greasing; fluid top offs; etc. necessary for the proper operation of equipment.May perform training of other personnel on specific tasks and proper equipment operations required for this job.Prepares and submits written reports required for the maintenance of equipment; operating records; inventory records; personnel accounting; and safety incident/accident reporting.During emergency situations; may be assigned unrelated tasks as determined by command authority. Emergency situation may occur during regularly scheduled hours or afterhours or on weekends.Operates scales and performs weighmaster duties as required.Promotes and maintains responsive community relations.Assists other co-workers in the group in the completion of work responsibilities; as necessary.May be detailed to operate equipment and performs tasks of lower or higher classifications.Performs similar or related work as required; directed or as situation dictates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalentThree to five years' experience in solid waste operations & snow plowing experience.Other combinations of education and experience that qualify an individual to perform the requisite job duties and responsibilities may be considered.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.Commercial Driver's License (CDL B) to be obtained within 12 months.Solid Waste Operator and Weighmaster Certification from NHDES.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of general facility maintenance and repair techniques.Knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping practices and computer operations and small digital devices.Ability to reconcile arithmetic computations with accuracy and speed.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees; contractors; and the public.Ability to use computers and small digital devices such as cellphones; laptops; tablets; or other related electronic devices necessary to perform Public Work functions and activities.Skill in operating equipment mentioned in description.Skill in utilizing Excel for hydrant data entry and Beehive for mapping of service lines.
