The Environmental Sustainability Division is seeking an energetic and passionate Program Manager - Environmental Programs (Time Limited) who will be primarily responsible for evaluating county-wide sustainability efforts, developing problem-solving processes for effective solutions, and will play a role in drafting the forthcoming Sustainability Action Plan for Government Operations. The position will coordinate with other County agencies and stakeholders on projects that support the Environmental Sustainability division's mission to support regional sustainability measures to ensure all populations live in a safe, secure, and healthy environment.The ideal candidate will be personally committed to leading a sustainable lifestyle and have a strong background in environmental coordination and public sector experience.This Time Limited position goes through December 31,2027.JOB SUMMARYEvaluates county-wide efforts to identify and use problem-solving processes that leads to more effective and sustainable solutions than existing County practices. Manages the coordination of internal and external stakeholders. Develops policy and programming recommendations to encourage and promote sustainability in Salt Lake County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Environmental Studies, or closely related field, plus four years of closely related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
Preference may be given to those with experience working with Environmental Sustainability initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Collaborates with other County departments, divisions, and offices to determine needs, opportunities, policies, and proposals. Develops, evaluates, and enhances the County's sustainability programming and policy initiatives.
- Develops data collection process. Collects, manages, and analyzes metrics for program quality and effectiveness. Compiles annual reports, and presents interpreted data materials to department administrators, County officials, and external stakeholders.
- Develops and maintains strategic professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Motivates County departments, divisions, and offices to implement strategies related to assigned program areas, while considering culture, budget process and decision making process.
- Supports grant initiatives including researching and assisting in the preparation of grant proposals to sustain current or future sustainability programming for priority areas identified by coordinating bodies.
- Assists in all Division research efforts, including qualitative and quantitative research projects.
- Coordinates professional development opportunities for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborates with Communications Manager to develop and maintain materials, including presentations and web-based content as requested.
- Performs purchasing functions that involve processing purchase requests, verifying invoices, processing payments to vendors, and maintaining documentation.
