ABOUT THIS POSITION Phoenix provides residents and visitors more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserve land with more than 200 miles of trails; 185 parks; 32 community and recreation centers; eight golf courses; 29 pools where thousands cool off and learn to swim each summer; and classes, programs, and sports leagues where kids and adults learn, stay active and have fun!
The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a Gardener Sprinkler to provide expertise in irrigation maintenance, repair, and installation and are responsible for performing landscaping, maintenance, re-vegetation, and restoration for parks, surrounding streets, and highways, specifically maintaining and policing assigned areas, trimming trees, conducting weed control, cultivating and fertilizing various plant species, operating mowing equipment, and troubleshooting irrigation systems. Additional duties include general park maintenance such as litter patrol, raking and emptying trash receptacles, checking and spraying plants for diseases and insect control, fertilizing plants, trees and grass, and maintaining urban lakes.
Current vacancies are located throughout all geographical areas of the Parks and Recreation Department, but the South Division will have the priority of hiring candidates.

SALARY Pay Range: $17.72 - $31.82 per hour.
Hiring Range: $17.72 - $24.93 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - One year of experience in the care and maintenance of trees, plants, shrubs, and lawns.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- Hold a State of Arizona Office of Pest management (OPM) Applicator License within six months of hire.

- Experience in turf management and sports field maintenance.
- Experience providing customer service.
- Experience in wire tracing/locating.
- Experience in irrigation controller programming.
