Scope of Job: Join our vibrant team as an Aquarist and dive into the excitement! ♂ You'll work with our Displays team to keep our dazzling freshwater and marine exhibits in tip-top shape. This means caring for everything from elasmobranchs to fish, reptiles, and invertebrates.
Qualifications & Experience Essential Functions: - Daily Animal Care: Prep diets, feed, and maintain our aquatic exhibits, making sure everything is in line with our magical protocols.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain and prep accurate daily records for our diverse specimens and systems-be it reptiles, aquarium systems, or dive-related paperwork.
- Water Quality & Health: Help with specimen transports, water quality tests, quarantine, and the diagnosis and treatment of any aquatic ailments.
- Interactive Programming: Engage with guests through captivating presentations and dives, sharing the wonders of our exhibits.
- SCUBA Adventures: Assist with the maintenance of massive aquarium displays, like our 200,000-gallon tropical ocean display, and ensure your dive gear is SEA LIFE-approved.
- High Standards: Work alongside the Displays team to maintain the highest standards of animal care and cleanliness in our stunning displays.
- Development: Contribute to the continual development and enhancement of our display areas to align with our long-term goals.
- Other Duties: Help out with various tasks as needed to keep the magic alive!
Health & Safety: Safety first! Always follow our Group Policy (HS001) and legal standards. Keep yourself, your team, and our guests safe. Report any incidents to your line manager and cooperate with investigations as needed. •
Education and Experience: - Ideally, you have a B.A./B.S. degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Marine Biology, Zoology, Psychology) or certification from an accredited aquarium science/zoological program.
- Open Water SCUBA Certification is required!
Work Environment: Be prepared for varied conditions-inside and outside, with different temperatures and floor surfaces.
Other Requirements: - Flexibility is key! Be ready to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to support our site operations.
