Your Role:Project Overview & Deliverables: The Biodiversity and Water project will develop, emplace, and monitor various ecosystems biodiversity at different locations at the Imerys Sylacauga location. The candidate will prepare areas that are associated with specific ecosystems by removing invasive species, reintroducing native species, emplacing field monitors, and include candidate specific structures or native plants that will lure, grow, and promote the biodiversity of that area. The aspects of this project will allow the candidate the opportunity to be actively involved in the art and science of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental impacts that generate significant positive outcomes. While the candidate is conducting any and all phases of the project, they will also be responsible for assisting the local EHS Department with various projects including and without limitation in collecting water samples, conducting water analysis, mapping water flow, stormwater debris removal, working in and around water with various best practices and MSHA standards.
Project Learning Objectives: Collecting, sampling, monitoring, and Identifying a wide variety of biological species for each area.
Stream Management by removal and reestablishing native plant species to support stream sustainability
Invasive Species identification, removal, and controls for each locations
Build and install nesting systems to promote biodiversity on site
Detailed mapping, description, and labeling of water flow throughout the site to include pipe characteristics. ( Length, ID, OD, Type, direction of flow)
