The Opportunity The Senior Forester will be responsible for managing forest operations within Manulife Investment Management Timber Group (MIMT) timberlands along Mississippi River Corridor in Arkansas and Mississippi. Responsibilities include oversight of harvesting and silviculture programs along with internal and external relationships. Job ScopeManulife Forest Management (MFM) Southern Division currently consists of timberland investments on approximating 1.5 million acres within the 11 Southern states including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. This position would have responsibility for the management of timberland assets along the Mississippi River corridor within the states of Mississippi and Arkansas with a primarily focus on upland and bottomland hardwood forest management.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a strong service-oriented relationship with appropriate MIMT and MIMFM personnel and maintain client fiduciary obligations.
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity throughout area operations.
- Represent MIMFM in a professional manner to public, industry, peers, associations, and regulatory entities.
- Provide leadership to area employee(s) and consulting personnel.
- Provide oversight and implementation of safety procedures for all area personnel, contractors, and property assets.
- Provide management direction and oversight for area operations to include planning, budgeting, GIS updates and quarterly property reports.
- Administer harvesting operations to include oversight, planning, cruising, marketing, scheduling, bid analysis, selling, contracts, security procedures and inspections.
- Prescribe, schedule, and implement silvicultural operations.
- Oversight, planning and implementing road maintenance.
- Oversight and management of area hunting and recreation program.
- Seek other non-timber income opportunities from MIMT properties.
- Implement stewardship policies and practices to meet state BMP compliance and SFI standards.
- Assist Region Manager with communications efforts to include stakeholder involvement, public relation issues and media inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Complete other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
Skill Sets Required- Proficient in Upland and Bottomland Hardwood management as well as Southern Pine plantation management. This includes knowledge and experience with management cost and return expectations, discounted cash flow analysis, harvest administration, and timber marketing.
- Proficient in southern pine silviculture and management
- Proficient in leadership principles and a team-oriented work environment.
- Knowledgeable in concepts related to forest stewardship.
- Knowledgeable in safety concepts for timberland operations.
- Knowledgeable in areas of employee relations, client relations, community relations, industry relations, communications, and employee safety.
- Familiarity with timberland accounting, inventory/GIS systems and general forestry operations.
What are we looking for:- A bachelor's degree in forestry or equivalent experience as required
- A Graduate degree in forestry or related science field is highly desirable
- Minimum 7 years career experience with organizational and team supervision experience desirable
- Must be a team player and self-motivated
- Must have excellent relationship, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and computer skills
- Valid Driver License
- Completion of drug testing prior to joining and adhering with company's drug and alcohol policy.

Salary range is expected to be between$68,175.00 USD - $113,625.00 USD
