Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Assists the general public and County staff with requirements and interpretations of the Clay County Land Development Code, Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan as well as other related County codes and ordinances in person, via telephone and through electronic and postal mail.
- Researches and responds to more complex inquiries and questions from general public and development community
- Reviews a variety of development applications for compliance with applicable codes including, but not limited to, development permits, rezoning applications, land use changes, alcohol licensees, heir's exemption applications, home occupation permits, variance requests and other Board of Adjustment applications, etc.
- Reviews applications for compliance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood regulations and the flood insurance program and assists the general public and County staff
- Perform highly responsible duties involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative
- Prepares public notices, including legal advertisements and signage, and property owner verifications
- Reviews applications and accompanying data, ensures applications and supporting documentation are complete, and that applications adhere to County procedures and requirements
- Prepares reports, charts, graphs and other technical data for the Planning and Zoning Division.
- Performs on-site inspections as the need arises
- Attends public meetings and hearings, assisting other planning staff as appropriate. May be required to make presentations at meetings and hearings as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of two years of customer service experience
- Minimum two years' experience working directly with zoning and/or land development regulations
- Valid Florida Driver's License with clean driving record
- Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Must be able to perceive, inspect and assess application information for completeness and regulations, codes and ordinances for compliance.
This position frequently communicates with the public, other staff and supervisors regarding applications, regulations, codes and ordinances. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Frequently files applications, maps and other departmental resources weighing up to 25 pounds.
The position operates in an indoor, office environment, subjecting the employee to possible exposure to dust and occasionally operates in an outdoor environment subjecting the employee to possible exposure to extreme temperatures, excessive humidity and inclement weather.
