OverviewA Solar Inverter Technician is responsible for supporting the service team in commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing solar inverters. The role includes performing preventive maintenance, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
Responsibilities- Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning of solar inverters, achieving milestones agreed with utility-scale customers.
- Conduct preventive maintenance projects as needed.
- Handle engineering assignments involving technology applications for the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of central solar inverters.
- Troubleshoot and test solar inverters and their components in the field.
- Investigate solar plant issues such as DC grid faults and inverter design issues or faults.
- Provide feedback on potential mechanical and electrical issues.
- Work independently in the field and with FSE Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues and lead root cause investigations.
- Apply knowledge of design specifications for complex systems/projects.
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
- Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and daily reports (ESRs, Daily Reports, Commissioning Checklists, etc.).
- Support the development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and scope of work.
Qualifications- 2+ years of overall PV experience.
- 2+ years of experience with solar inverters.
- Ability to work with test equipment and hand tools.
- Strong customer service, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- OSHA, NFPA70E, Electrical Safety knowledge is a plus.
- Experience and/or certification with MV transformers is a plus.
- Clean driving record and background.
- Willingness to take and pass a drug screen.
- Full-time, statewide in Texas, with some out-of-state work at times.
