POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position reports to a Senior Engineer and will be a member of the corporate engineering team. The successful candidate will have an impactful role in supporting the operational needs of Fortera's demonstration plant. The internship will provide experience and first-hand insight of the challenges and rewards of designing/building/operating a first-of-its-kind scaled up process.
The role will be primarily located in San Jose, CA with opportunities to travel to the plant site in Redding, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Use AutoCAD Lt. to update BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Review technical specifications, audit, and source parts as needed for the demonstration plant in Redding, CA
- Assist Engineering/Operations team with editing/updating technical documents including, but not limited to, SOPs, Design Basis, PHAs, etc.
- Support detailed design efforts for a full-scale commercial plant
- Investigate alternative technologies for dissolution, dewatering, drying, and filtration
- Assist with hydraulic calculations
- Review industry best practices related to piping
- Create and analyze databases to optimize processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- 3+ years of study in Chemical Engineering
- Class C driver's license and insurance
- Eagerness to learn
- Willingness to work in a team
- A "can-do" attitude
- Experience with MS Office products with proficiency in Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel to Redding, CA
COMPENSATION:The hourly range for this internship is $25.00 - $30.00.
