Senior Environmental Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. Ann Arbor, MI or
Grand Rapids, MI office.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful candidate will:- Support the execution of project work through individual contribution and delegation to lower-level staff.
- Support environmental compliance projects, with special emphasis on permitting and compliance.
- Develop detailed construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Determine material estimates based on designs.
- Assist with technical oversight, task planning, and task management for staff level team members on diverse design teams.
- Perform mechanical and process design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
- Perform routine data collection and optimization activities for remediation systems.
- Conduct operations and maintenance of remedial systems, including system optimization.
- Develop technical approaches and complex contaminated sites and identify opportunities to optimize/innovate existing and new procedures and systems.
- Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
- Review and interpret regulations, as appropriate.
- Develop technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized project opportunities for review by others.
- Commit to maintaining a membership in one professional society or technical organization in their discipline or primary area of technical interest.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, including following established Haley & Aldrich and client health & safety protocols and procedures.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE- B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering. M.S. degree welcomed.
- Minimum 6 years of related local environmental consulting experience including environmental engineering and/or consulting experience..
- Professional engineering registration in core discipline, or ability to obtain within one year.
- Specific experience in the preparation of detailed engineering design packages and supporting engineering analysis/consulting for some of the following project types: environmental permitting, SPCC plans, excavation-based remediation projects, landfill and leachate systems design and closure, and stormwater collection, conveyance, and treatment systems,
- Currently hold PE license or ability to obtain PE license within 1 years of hire date preferred (if applicable).
- Experience with remediation systems, including water pumping and treatment, vapor extraction, construction dewatering, permitting and contractor management.
- Proficient in technical writing, verbal communication skills, and organization/analytical skills.
- Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in industry standard software. Proficiency in AutoCAD is expected.
- Ability to travel for site visits and client meetings across the U.S.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and other H&S training desirable.
- Ability to work on a team and independently in a fast-paced consulting environment.
