Senior Environmental Engineer or Geologist 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. Ann Arbor, MI office.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful candidate will:- Can perform both assistant project management and technical tasks on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Be accountable for multiple field and office work assignments.
- Perform occasional fieldwork, including some travel and, when necessary, weekend work.
- Assist with the development of technical scopes of work, subcontractor scopes and estimating costs for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized project opportunities.
- Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from Project Managers and Client Account Managers.
- Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations.
- Have the technical knowledge and organizational skills to direct, coach, and support staff to facilitate successful execution of projects.
- Conduct office work including report writing, data tabulation and evaluation, task management, and coordination of schedule, staff, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Review site history and applicable regulations. Prepare and manage permits required from local, state, and federal agencies.
- Assist in defining technical issues and approaches for soil and hydrogeologic site characterization and remediation.
- Analyze and assess field geologic/hydrogeology data and related information to assess trends, groundwater flow mapping and groundwater quality impacts.
- Prepare reports including environmental data analysis and visualization including potentiometric surface maps, geologic and hydrogeologic cross-sections, iso-concentration and data maps, remediation system performance evaluation reports, and pilot test reports.
- Write professional-quality documents.
- Have a strong knowledge of Federal and state (California) environmental regulations and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to ensure projects are in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Communicate with clients, property owners, tenants, and regulators.
- Attend project meetings with clients, regulators, and contractors.
- Conduct field work, including:
- Operation, maintenance, and monitoring of environmental remediation systems;
- Construction oversight of environmental remediation and mitigation projects;
- Installation, maintenance and monitoring of groundwater and soil vapor extraction monitoring wells;
- Monitoring and logging subsurface explorations, including soil sampling;
- Mapping/descriptions, slug and pump testing, aquifer testing and surface water measurements/groundwater quality sampling;
- Monitoring environmental and geotechnical instrumentation; and
- Prepare detailed summaries of field observations.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, including following established Haley & Aldrich and client health & safety protocols and procedures.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or geology. (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of related local environmental consulting experience including environmental engineering, geology, or hydrogeology.
- Ability to obtain EIT/PE license or GIT/PG within 2 years of hire date preferred (f applicable).
- Proficient in technical writing, verbal communication skills, and organization/analytical skills.
- Computer skills with Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and MS Project.
- AutoCAD, GIS, and groundwater modeling and data visualization preferred.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and other H&S training desirable.
- Ability to work on a team and independently in a fast-paced consulting environment.
