Job Description ECU Campus Recreation and Wellness is currently seeking several Aquatic Lifeguards/Swim Instructors.
Join our dedicated team at Campus Recreation and Wellness (CRW) as an Aquatic Lifeguard/Swim Instructor! These roles offer flexible hours and the chance to gain valuable experience in supporting and managing aquatic programs and facilities. You will play a vital part in promoting the well-being of the campus community. CRW is committed to creating an environment of belonging and well-being and supports the Division of Student Affairs' commitment to purposeful well-being.
Lifeguard Responsibilities:- Ensure the safety and security of all patrons in the aquatic facility
- Monitor activities in and around the pool to prevent accidents
- Enforce all facility rules and regulations
- Respond quickly to emergencies and perform lifesaving techniques, including first aid and CPR
- Conduct regular safety checks of pool equipment and facilities
- Assist with pool maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons
- Complete incident and accident reports as needed
- Participate in regular training and in-service sessions to maintain skills and certifications
Swim Instructor Responsibilities:- Teach swim lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels
- Develop and implement lesson plans
- Provide feedback and encouragement to help participants improve their swimming skills
- Ensure the safety of all participants during swim lessons
- Communicate effectively with participants and their guardians
- Maintain records of participants' progress
- Assist with swim program promotion and registration
- Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with participants
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.) Qualifications:- Must be in good academic standing
- Valid Lifeguard Certification (including CPR, First Aid, and AED)
- Experience in life-guarding and/or swim instruction preferred
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Flexible work availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and ECU sanctioned breaks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team for a minimum of 8-12 hours per week
