RECYCLING TECHNICIAN  (Full Time)
Department: All Openings, Facilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recycling Technician is responsible for sorting and processing recyclable materials, operating and maintaining recycling equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Duties include managing recycling bins, maintaining accurate records, conducting inspections, and preparing materials for processing. The role also involves assisting in the development of recycling programs, identifying recycling opportunities in manufacturing, and adhering to safety regulations while working with production teams to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Essential Job Functions

Sort and process recyclable materials, including metals, plastics, paper, and other materials, according to established guidelines.

Operate recycling equipment and machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting any malfunctions.

Monitor and maintain recycling bins and containers, ensuring they are clean, labeled, and accessible.

Maintain accurate records of materials recycled, tracking quantities and types for reporting purposes.

Conduct regular inspections of recycling areas to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Assist in the development and implementation of recycling programs and initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Prepare recyclable materials for processing by cleaning, shredding, or compacting as needed, following established procedures to maximize recycling efficiency.

Conduct inspections of recyclable materials to ensure they meet quality standards and are free from contaminants, reporting any issues to management.

Adhere to all safety regulations and environmental guidelines related to recycling operations, participating in safety training and meetings as required.

Work closely with production teams to identify and implement recycling opportunities within the manufacturing process, providing recommendations for waste reduction.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent, or successful completion of a verifiable occupational training program; or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of high school diploma.

Previous experience in recycling, waste management, or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge of recycling processes, materials, and relevant environmental regulations.

Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures and Safety Data Sheet requirements

Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime

Ability to work with minimal supervision
