MNS is hiring a Project Manager to apply technical skills and leadership of planning, design and management of transportation projects and related infrastructure for clients in the public sector.
This position will be primarily remote with occasional travel to meet our client needs in California.The Senior Project Engineer will coordinate, oversee, review and take responsible charge on the delivery of projects related to the planning and design of water/wastewater systems (pipelines, pump stations, treatment systems, and similar), and/or the study of floodplain and stormwater for the design of drainage systems, and similar projects.
We do not expect experience in both water/wastewater and stormwater. One or the other is acceptable. Typical work tasks for this role are anticipated to include:
- Preparation of technical memoranda and reports related to proposed or existing water infrastructure including planning studies, condition assessments, and asset management related to municipal infrastructure.
- Design calculations related to the assessment and design of municipal water, wastewater, and surface water infrastructure. Specific projects include wastewater force main replacements, wastewater lift station replacements, potable water system consolidation, pipeline replacement, water and wastewater treatment, facility rehabilitation, dredging, civil site design, etc.
- Preparation of design documents, including plans, specifications, and estimates,
- Bid and construction phase support services.
Responsibilities:
Water/Wastewater
- Apply and oversee team application of accepted engineering practices and techniques for water and wastewater treatment processes and collection/distribution designs
- Oversee approach, development, and delivery of engineering reports and studies for water and wastewater projects including treatment and collection/distribution
- Oversee (and participate as needed in) detailed design efforts for a wide array of water and wastewater projects, ranging from collection and distribution, to treatment and reuse, with particular emphasis on municipal systems
Stormwater
- Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of systems, providing guidance and support as needed
- Design drainage systems with site development elements

- Manage field investigations and data processing to obtain data necessary for analysis and design work
- Ensure quality assurance for project elements such as preparation of permit applications, materials testing, CADD work, and other related tasks.
- Interact effectively with the general public, officials and contractors
- Prepare scopes, budgets and schedules and monitor same
- Independently evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria
- Assign tasks to and coordinate with engineering, technical and administrative staff in a team environment
- Prepare and complete project documents including plan, specifications, estimates, and studies
- Assist with proposals to provide professional services
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program
- Professional Engineer License from the State of California
- Valid California driver's license
- Continuing education as required for license and industry change developments
Minimum Experience Required
- 8 years of industry experience with increasing levels of knowledge, responsibility and leadership requirements
Other Required Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong technical writing skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects
- Ability to design a complete project, system, component, or process
- Ability to formulate and solve problems

Salary Description
$120,000 to $170,000 annual
