General Foreman - Analytical Lab & Recycle Location:Met Complex - Columbus, MT
Schedule:5x2, 4x3 - 9-hour days
Job Responsibilities and Duties:At Sibanye-Stillwater, the Analytical Lab & Recycle General Foreman is responsible for providing direct supervision for Lab staff and hourly personnel, establishing and maintaining safety and production work standards, continued optimization of operational systems, understanding and articulating the specific short term and the general, longer term goals of the company, budget development and adherence, and is a champion of on-going project initiatives. The General Foreman is the owner and has accountability for achieving the short term production plan. The Lab & Recycle General Foreman's primary duties are: Supervisory:
• Interviews, hires, and ensures training of new staff in the department.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
• Provides constructive and timely performance management feedback and evaluations for direct reports. Duties/Responsibilities:
• Foster positive, cooperative relationships with maintenance and other groups in the Company.
• Provide leadership for safe and productive operations.
• Coach and mentor Lab/Recycle leadership in accordance with Sibanye Stillwater leadership qualities.
• Lead Lab/Recycle operations team to ensure maximum productivity and equipment availability by safely optimizing operating systems and procedures.
• Regularly interact with the workforce, demonstrating high level leadership qualities.
• Work with site senior leadership team in continuing development of a focused, engaged culture throughout the organization.
• Establish and execute one week to three-month plan that supports the growth of the operation.
• Develop and execute strategic workforce planning.
• Develop and communicate site goals and initiatives in cooperation with other site managers and general foremen.
• Foster cooperation, collaboration and innovation to ensure that site production and development goals are understood and efficiently supported.
• Be pro-active in all aspects of the operation; safety, environmental, effective and efficient utilization of resources, productivity, continuous Improvement initiatives, and teamwork across the site.
• Actively support and contribute to development of Safety and Health Management and Environmental systems and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain a productive labor relations environment, promoting fair and consistent practices.
• Drive timely and consistent auditing processes with appropriate follow up.
• Ensure timely completion of quality incident investigations and reporting.
• Provide input and feedback on Business Improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:Required:Understanding of safety and environmental procedures, maintenance, and equipment functions in an industrial environment.
• Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical drawings and specification documents.
• Leadership qualities including: character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision.
• Well established communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and record keeping skills.
• Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite to include Word and Excel) and other department specific systems.
• Working knowledge of assay theory and sampling techniques. Demonstrable experience and skills include:
• Ability to analytically and rationally make decisions
• Understanding of laboratory/recycle operations and maintenance processes
• Ability to conduct Critical Task Analysis and develop Standard Operating Procedures
• General knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Understanding of company policies, procedures and standards
• Utilization of HR, Safety, and Environmental resources to expand knowledge of noted areas above.
• Willingness to learn and apply modern-day technology to improve reliability
• Support implementation of safety and quality control systems
Education & Experience- High school diploma and 5 or more years of lab or processing plant experience; OR relevant bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent and 2 years work experience in a leadership role.
- Post-Secondary education in a relevant field is preferred
- Experience with MSHA/OSHA regulations
- Project management experience
- Chemistry or chemical engineering experience preferred
