The Environmental Assurance Protection Program (EAP) is seeking a Senior Manager for Global Environmental Programs to join our team to lead a team of environmental professionals in designing and implementing gold standard environmental programs that ensure compliance with all global environmental requirements while enabling Amazon's zero waste and sustainability initiatives. As the Senior Manager for Global Environmental Programs, you will lead Amazon's team that is focused on moving our Global Operations to be compliant with applicable environmental laws by engaging and partnering closely with global cross functional teams. This role is also responsible for the development, implementation, and participation in cross-functional efforts, programs, and initiatives and adjusting to Amazon's evolving and expanding business. This role plays a significant implementing Amazon's goal of Zero Waste team and developing and delivering a comprehensive, cohesive, and coordinated strategy for waste reduction within our Global Operations.
This position requires the candidate to work onsite in an Amazon HQ office.
Key job responsibilities
This is a highly visible, leadership role in a critical focus area for the company. The Global Sr. Mgr. Environmental Programs will:
- Be using their organizational skills to effectively work independently and autonomously .
- Work closely with partner teams, influence across multiple functions, including Legal, PR, technology and business teams, and communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Provide the roadmap and direction that improves existing tools and increase usability of these tools to reduce our environmental impact and, support marketplace launches with their unique environmental challenges.
- Collaborate and influence within wider regional and international structures earning trust and building partners external to Amazon.
- Have fluency with written and verbal communications, and experience presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership
- Be managing multiple projects including prioritization, planning and task delegation across cross-functional teams while delivering results.
A day in the life
A day in the life of the Global Senior Manager, Environmental Programs and Risk Management, Environmental Assurance & Protection consists of leading a team to design compliant environmental programs. In addition to leading the team, the leader will collaborate with legal, peers and operations leaders to define environmental obligations and design simplified programs that ensure environmental compliance. The leader will travel to sites to improve current processes and listen to the voice of the customer the associates responsible for execution, regulators who expect our facilities to operate compliantly and communities in which we operate.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree in environmental engineering, sciences or Juris Doctorate
- 10-15 years of related professional experience with operations, program management, or environmental compliance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
- 7+ years experience using analytical and quantitative skills to understand, troubleshoot, and describe complex technical processes and issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in area of study relevant to the role
- Experience working at high level and collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Legal, PR, and business teams
- Knowledge of EU and US policy process and institutions.
- Public speaking experience
- Experience working internationally
- Familiarity with international waste policy; knowledge of current policy environment in the EU and US (e.g. circular economy, waste reduction, plastics, sustainable operations, recycling)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $142,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
