Your Role:
Tetra Tech, Inc. is currently seeking a
full-time Biologist or Ecologist for our
Bloomington, MN operations to provide mid-level biological support to on-going projects addressing environmental concerns of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage) and other types of projects throughout North America. In this position, you will assist in the development of biological assessments, wildlife conservation strategies (WCS), eagle conservation plans (ECP) and other assessments in compliance with the Endangered Species Act and other environmental rules, regulations, and associated permitting. Additional responsibilities and opportunities include:
- Support identification of a strategy for project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidance for biological resources.
- Support project development services (i.e., work scopes, proposals and costs).
- Opportunity to support and manage projects.
- Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected.
- Assistance with other environmental due diligence and compliance tasks is also anticipated.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental consulting. Qualified candidates must also have/be:
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, required.
- Must possess strong analytical, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Excellent interpersonal communication, oral presentation, and client interaction skills.
- Strategic thinker and problem-solver.
- Strong technical report writer/editor.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have demonstrated ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects.
- Highly motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment.
- Proficiency with GIS/GPS preferred.
In addition:
- This position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
Degree / Certifications:- BS or MS degree in environmental science/policy, natural resources planning, biology, ecology or geography, or a closely related discipline required.
Physical Demands:- Candidate must be able to walk around project sites and must be physically able to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment such as maps, GPS unit, field screening equipment and cameras during field work.
- Field activities take place in a variety of weather conditions and can occur in remote locations that include areas of uneven terrain.
- Some field work requiring overnight travel may be required.
Work Environment:- The work environment will mostly consist of office work with some field work.
- This position requires up to 50% travel.
- Travel requirements may include day-long projects that do not require overnight stays to multi-day field projects that will require overnight stays.
- Work locations may include both urban and rural areas and can occur in any season and in any weather condition.
The Salary Range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
