Neapco is seeking a results-driven individual to join our team as a Manager, Plant Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability. This role will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees, compliance with environmental regulations, and the implementation of sustainability initiatives at the plant. This role involves developing, managing, and continuously improving the plant's safety programs, environmental practices, and sustainability efforts in alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. This position will report to the Plant Manager and is based at our Neapco Drivelines location in Belleville, Michigan. Job Description: Manager, Plant Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manage and Lead EHS culture to excellence and assist in Sustainability objectives into business processes.
- Accident / Incident Investigation and follow-up, ensuring proper documentation is complete to include accident report, root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Report all recordable injuries to workers' compensation, follow-up and review cases as required to close claims in an efficient and timely manner.
- Track and trend key EHS KPIs and provide data to help drive progress on initiatives and to help in decision making.
- Ensure compliance with all EHS regulations, keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations which impact on the organization.
- Develop or utilize existing tools & PPE for the employees to work safely and in total compliance with all laws, regulations, and Company policies.
- Develop, update, and manage workplace EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with occupational EHS regulations as well as internal programs/policies/procedures and processes.
- Support department managers by advising and supporting their efforts surrounding EHS audits (LPA, CKM) / inspections; and incident investigations including OSHA recordable and near misses; and periodic evaluation of training needs.
- Effectively communicate information to personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Principally serve in a hands-on consulting and work closely with all levels of hourly, salary and union personnel.
- Develop and implement employee safety training programs.
- Conduct required EHS related training.
- Lead the facility's joint health & safety team.
- Lead the ISO audits (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) and support IATF audit.
- Participate in 5s / Lean program activities.
- Review all safety and environmental incidents to determine root cause and corrective action(s).
- Maintain visibility within the manufacturing facility, providing individual interaction as needed.
- Daily plant floor walks to monitor housekeeping and record any safety-related issues.
- Promote a proactive, facility wide safety culture.
- Lead in sustainability objectives.
- Review, Update and complete tasks on the EHS calendar.
- Work with the UAW safety officer.
- Belleville is a 24/7 operation with 3 shifts. Must have flexibility to adjust schedule as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, as well as industrial health and safety.
- Knowledge of General Industry regulations (OSHA, MIOSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, EPA, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, accepting responsibility for facility environmental and health & safety initiatives.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making ability.
- Computer experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading environmental, sustainability, health, and safety function within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with unionized workforce preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.preferred.
EDUCATION:- Bachelor's degree in relevant field with an Environmental, Health & Safety focus strongly preferred; or equivalent education and experience.
- OSHA 30 certification.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- This position may have direct reports.
AUDIT RESPONSIBILITIESThe audit responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Other responsibilities may be added with or without notice in writing, at any time.
- Maintenance of the job descriptions for the salary and hourly team members.
- Coordination and maintain training for salary and hourly team members.
- Support other departments in training requirements.
- Track KPIs and other required documentation for audits.
LANGUAGE SKILLSStrong written and verbal communication skills in English are required, along with strong active listening skills. The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents. The ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, team members, regulatory agencies, executives, or members of the business community. Must have the ability to write presentations, internal communications, and process manuals and instructions that conform to prescribed styles and formats. Have the ability to effectively present information to all levels of business and external audiences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSHave the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to prepare budgets using Excel applications. Must be able to cost labor expenses.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and work and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
