Opportunity SummaryThe Apprentice assists the Solar Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technicians in the day-to-day operations.
Primary Duties- Shadowing technicians on routine tours of the site to inspect equipment.
- Effectively communicate information to company personnel relative to the project at hand.
- Learn how to perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment (electrical equipment inspections, module replacement, tracker lubrication, etc.) with senior level technicians. And follow all instructions given by senior technicians within reason, with a focus on safety.
- Support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and perform duties to includes helping move parts and materials for various projects while learning what their uses are.
- Escort contractors to job sites.
- Comply with all site safety requirements, procedures and complete all safety training before deployed to assist in the field.
- Learn to identify safety hazards.
- Learn safety documentation and procedures through OJT.
- Will be required to conduct themselves professionally at all times on any job site or project.
CompensationThe initial hourly compensation will range from $19.00 - $22.00/hr. based on experience.
Working RelationshipsThis role reports to the Field Services Manager and has no direct reports.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Some industrial experience in operations and/or maintenance is preferred.
- Solar experience or electrical experience desired.
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Specific Skills and Knowledge- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English and to do basic mathematics.
- Must be eager to learn and able to follow instructions.
- Mechanically included with the ability to use basic hand tools.
- Willingness to learn the electrical trade. Will be given several electrical courses and training to complete.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions- Must be able and willing to work overtime which can be either scheduled or call-in as needed to respond to emergency needs of the site.
- Some preventive maintenance work that requires equipment shutdown will be scheduled to occur during non-production (early morning or nighttime) hours.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times at any project or active job site.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
