Role location: New York About Westpac: We are Australia's first bank and oldest company, and one of four major banking organisations in Australia. This opportunity sits in our New York office working for Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB), the division of Westpac, which services the needs of our corporate, institutional, and governmental clients.
How will I help? An exciting opportunity to help build and grow the Energy, Infrastructure & Resources (EIR) business across North America. Working as part of a New York based team of two initially and part of a larger trans-Atlantic team of seven (paired with London) who will provide further support. Additional local resources and expansion can be expected over time.
Key responsibilities will include: - Origination of new EIR opportunities across CIB, FM and GTS in line with Westpac's risk appetite by:
- Working closely with various product partners across WIB.
- Managing and growing existing local EIR relationships and over time selectively build new financial sponsor relationships that correlate to Westpac's key priorities.
- Build and maintain appropriate industry relationships across our focus areas.
- Execution of debt opportunities: lead and guide the relevant debt products team to successfully close new bank financing opportunities, maximizing returns and cross sell opportunities in line with other LOBs across WIB.
- Strategy: work with the Head of EIR International & Head of CIB International to evolve EIR's North American growth strategy ensuring effective implementation. Fine tuning where necessary on risk appetite and sub-sectors that are closely aligned to our global core client investment activity. You will own the origination process and work in partnership with key stakeholders on new transactions to grow the loan book.
- Portfolio management: proactively manage and ensure robust hygiene and seek to strengthen credit analysis and processes.
- As a senior leader and RM in the North American International team, you will be responsible for high quality origination and delivery of customer and industry insights to differentiate our sales proposition, manage portfolio risk and provide robust credit analysis to support and deliver sustainable credit decisions, within a CIB environment.
- You will also build and maintain strong working partnerships with our internal Relationship Managers, your peers, and our clients where you will help initiate and structure a range of banking transactions.
Additional accountabilities include: - Delivery of revenue and balance sheet growth targets in line with KPIs
- Contribute to credit submissions and present, negotiate submissions through WIB's risk management decision process.
- Determine the suitability of proposals, including acceptability of credit risk and structuring for final approval by a Credit Officer.
- Utilise your EIR industry knowledge to deliver value-added insights and research that can be used by our customers and internal stakeholders.
- Achieve portfolio management hygiene in line with KPIs including maintaining WIB's commitment to high standards in credit assessment and exposure management.
- Ensure all aspects of the credit process, including diligence, are properly executed.

You will have access to a comprehensive range of Westpac benefits including flexibility and various leave entitlements. Fixed compensation range for this position is between $230,000 USD - $330,000 USD depending on experience + bonus and benefits.
What do I need? - Degree qualified, Business/ Finance/ Accounting.
- Significant experience in relevant industry / sectors.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and relationship building internally and externally
- Knowledge of structured debt, project finance and corporate loan market financings and related banking products.
- A solid understanding of the Energy & Infrastructure sectors in North America.
- Good understanding of Sustainability and Climate change related issues impacting our clients and sectors.
- Credit Risk Management and experience of evolving Credit policies and testing risk frameworks.
- Highly numerate with strong Cash Flow modelling skills.
- Strong communication, negotiating and influencing skills to manage significant relationships with stakeholders.
- Extensive experience applying a risk mindset and commercial acumen.
