EHS professional responsible for environmental compliance and the environmental management system.
RESPONSIBILTIES- Serve as a subject matter expert for environmental regulations and compliance.
- Generate/review monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual air, water, and waste compliance reports for submission to Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), Greater Peoria Sanitary District (GPSD), United State Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), and Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS).
- Maintain the Site Mapleton Emergency Response Plan (MERP), Facility Response Plan (FRP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Risk Management Plan (RMP), National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Illinois Department of Public Health Water Testing (IDPH), Title V Air Permit Application, Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), Green House Gas Monitoring Rule Requirements Report (GHG MRR), and Greater Peoria Sanitary District (GPSD) permits and compliance programs.
- Maintain the Master Reporting/Tracking Schedule for the site to ensure that deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
- Duties include management of Hazardous Waste, including weekly inspections, scheduling of shipments, and proper profiling of all waste streams on site.
- Prepare for, participate in, and assist with correcting findings from corporate and government audits/inspections.
- Participate in the management of change process for the site, evaluating how proposed changes may impact EHS.
- Communicate with internal and external experts regarding compliance topics
- Provide leadership for environmental/compliance related projects and safety initiatives
- Oversee the activities of associates involved in EHSS. Monitor data entry by production and EHSS support personnel to ensure compliance and completion of work responsibilities and communicate to appropriate management personnel when issues arise.
- Facilitate reviews of compliance programs with production and EHSS personnel to insure that monitoring and evaluation are occurring, as required and to insure timely response to non-compliant situations.
- Provide EHS training to the site as needed for environmental topics.
- Oversee and verify all waste water, stormwater, and drinking water samples are taken properly and sent to the laboratories in the proper timing.
- Monitor and evaluate sample results reported by labs to ensure that the correct data is requested and received, and that recordkeeping is complete in support of required compliance reporting.
- Participate in support activities, including community outreach.
- Reports and/or presents environmental KPI's (recycling, waste reduction, energy usage, water consumption, compliance) and key accomplishments to Senior Management (local and corporate)
- Provide support for the Health and Safety programs such as incident investigation, root cause analysis, Industrial Hygiene program, and Joint Health & Safety.

- Develop strategic improvement plans to reduce the Environmental impact of the Mapleton Site.
- Develop, administer and continually improve environmental management systems and practices by updating procedures, developing spreadsheets, facilitating record keeping, completing reports, and working with operations in the broad categories of air quality, water quality, waste management and sustainability.
REQUIREMENTSEducation:- Bachelor degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Other Science (Chemistry, Biology, Geology, etc.)
- Professional Certification in an environmental discipline (CHMM, ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.) is preferred.
Experience:- 5-10 years of experience in EHSS, preferably in chemical manufacturing facility.
Skills:- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements
- Experience with permitting process for Title V, NPDES, RCRA and waste water discharge
- Experience with regulatory reporting.
- Experience with Hazardous waste management
- Audit and regulatory authority interaction experience.
- Working knowledge of problem solving tools and root cause analysis.
- Experience with training and coaching EHS topics for all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with technology including Microsoft Office Products, SAP, Outlook, and internet sites required for compliance reporting
