The NPI Technical Program Manager (TPM) is a pivotal role that supports all phases of product development, from concept to mass production. This position involves supporting Engineering prototype A and B build phases (operations support, coordination, and validation trial management) and leading production readiness phases C and D build phases (core team leadership, program roadmap, build plan, materials coordination, prioritization, resource allocation, issue tracking). In addition to new product launches, TPM owns change management process for launching any product, process and supply chain changes in existing lines with minimal disruptions. The TPM will also lead and mentor their direct reports, helping them grow personally and professionally.
Success in this role requires strong program risk management, resource allocation, timeline adherence, and issue resolution skills. The TPM collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive decision-making, balancing impacts across departments and operational goals. The role also plays a crucial part in developing and promoting adherence to best practices in NPI processes and procedures.
Responsibilities - Manage the cross functional team to ensure successful launches of new products into the Gigafactory Nevada location
- Lead core team meetings to coordinate all aspects of prototype builds, set build plans and evaluate constraints; lead, guide, and mentor junior team members
- Drive material readiness with supply chain and material planning teams
- Provide direction to project engineers for priorities and trial requirements
- Own product roadmaps
- Perform cost analyses to reduce operations cost and manage inventory
- Aid in the development and roll-out of NPI structure and processes
- Coordinate with process and quality engineers to support new product roll outs and implement design, process, and supply chain changes in the existing production lines
Requirements - Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in mix of engineering and Project Management fields with evidence of exceptional ability managing multiple complex programs/projects simultaneously
- Direct people leadership experience is preferred, but not required
- PMP certification is preferred, but not required
- Experience in Production/Manufacturing environment (semi-automated preferred)
- Executive level communication skills, both verbal and written to both technical and non-technical team members
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage large teams
- Works well under pressure and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously; Ability to adapt to changes quickly
- Must have command of English Language, both written and verbal
