JOB SUMMARY As a Senior Chemical Engineer, you will contribute to the development and deployment of our AirSCWO™ systems. This will require you to develop a thorough understanding of 374's AirSCWO process and contribute to its continual improvement. You will be responsible for creating and updating the Pipe and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for the various AirSCWO systems deployed and planned.
Your other focus will be to lead the process side of new projects, which includes performing process modeling with heat and mass balances, issuing calculation notes, equipment datasheets and Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages, as well as reviewing and selecting quotes, and organizing the project documentation.
You will be part of a small, but growing, engineering team and will work directly with 374Water's fabrication department, equipment suppliers, and AirSCWO systems end-users.
To be a successful candidate, you must have thorough experience as a chemical engineer in the water, wastewater, or another industry. You must have advanced drafting skills (2D) and a meaningful experience with drawing P&IDs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - Maintain existing AirSCWO system's P&IDs as well as create those for the new projects.
- Perform heat and mass balances, process modeling, equipment sizing such as heat exchangers, separation vessels, pumps, valves, compressors, etc., in collaboration with 374Water's other Process Engineers and mechanical department.
- Issue RFQ packages, review offers, lead discussions with equipment suppliers and OEMs.
- Create technical documentation.
- Lead the process side of new AirSCWO system projects.
- Travel onsite to our Manufacturing Facility in Orlando, FL, to support commissioning, perform a line walk and update the P&IDs to reflect the "as-built" system at the end of a construction job.
- Travel onsite to support operations, or to new project sites to meet with customers.
WHO YOU ARE Qualifications and Experience - BS in Chemical Engineering or relevant field. MS preferred, but not required
- 8+ years' experience as a chemical engineer or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of: pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves.
- Knowledgeable about pressure vessel codes and standards.
- Proficient with computer design and drawing software such as AutoCAD or Bricsys at least with 2D drawings and smart P&IDs.
- Experience in water/wastewater industry and/or hydrothermal operations or other relevant engineering experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple, tight deadlines.
