We are currently seeking a Biologist to provide on-site environmental support for construction activities. This is a full-time, temporary role (April 15 - October 15), with the potential for permanent employment. The successful candidate will have proven experience conducting field assessments of environmental resources, including pre-construction biological surveys for nesting birds and terrestrial wildlife, construction monitoring, qualitative and quantitative restoration site evaluations, and preparing comprehensive reports in compliance with regulatory permits, CEQA, and NEPA requirements.
The ideal candidate will have served as the lead environmental monitor on at least three (3) construction projects, demonstrating expertise in conducting biological field surveys, documenting findings, and supporting projects from pre-construction through post-construction site restoration.
This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
A day in the life as a Wood Rodgers' Biologist- Conduct literature research and record searches.
- Complete biological field surveys.
- Collect field data.
- Develop solutions for complex biological settings.
- Monitor construction work, ensuring compliance with regulatory permitting including California Department of Fish and Wildlife Streambed Alteration Agreement, Federal and State Endangered Species Acts, and NEPA/CEQA documentation.
- Write reports supporting survey and monitoring results, including but not limited to migratory nesting bird survey report, daily monitoring logs of environmental commitments, monthly compliance reports, and restoration site monitoring reports.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with resident engineer and construction contractor to provide environmental regulation guidance.
- Ability to work in the outdoor environment with physical demands, including but not limited to hiking/walking distances on uneven terrain, contact with insects and wildlife, as well as variable weather conditions, such as elevated temperatures (high or low) and inclement weather.
Qualifications & Skills- Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience providing environmental construction support in California, including pre-construction surveys, environmental compliance monitoring, and restoration site evaluations.
- Solid understanding of federal and California environmental regulations, including the Endangered Species Acts, Clean Water Act, NEPA, and CEQA.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with experience preparing environmental studies and reports.
- Proficiency in GPS/GIS applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in time management with the ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Physically capable of conducting fieldwork in various conditions, including extreme temperatures and challenging terrain.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Offers will be based on several factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location. Base pay is just one part of the comprehensive compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
