General Shale, the nation’s leading brick and masonry materials manufacturer, is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our engineering team. 

 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or other technically related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in the environmental or related field (preferably regulatory compliance related)
  • Self-motivated to work independently as well as constructive participation as a member of a team
  • Willing and able to travel as needed
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs (Office Suite plus state-specific and federal websites)
  • Willing and able to work in brick manufacturing plant settings

 

Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Interaction with brick manufacturing personnel on environmentally related issues (air, storm water, drinking water, mining, etc.)
  • Compiling data and completing environmentally related reports (both federal and state level)
  • Liaise with state regulatory agencies on behalf of the company
  • Liaise with environmental consultants on behalf of the company for environmental permit application development
  • Managing permit renewals and other time sensitive, environmentally related documents and plans
  • Update and maintain elements of the Environmental Management System
  • Training manufacturing personnel on the requirements set forth in the various environmental permits
