Job DescriptionThe Sustainability Manager is responsible for planning, implementation, and reporting of the CHA's Sustainability Plan, including energy management and renewable energy program, greenhouse gas inventory and reduction strategy, outreach, and support for increased participation in waste diversion, and sustainability reporting.
Responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage all reporting for baseline energy usage of CHA properties through the Environmental Protection Agency's Portfolio Manager and other sustainability reporting software.
- Establish renewable energy and electrification goals to align the CHA with the City of Chicago's Climate Action Plan and HUD's Renew300 plan
- Manage the CHA's prequalified pool of renewable energy developers to identify renewable energy opportunities, execute power purchase agreements or other agreements that increase participation in solar development programs that are financially advantageous to the CHA such as the State of Illinois Solar for All program.
- Oversee sustainable operations reporting, as well as data reporting compliance with the BIT Building program
- Manage the data collection and reporting and assist in the calculation and reduction strategy of CHA Green House Gas emissions.
- Perform analysis of building performance data, work with the Director to recommend and implement action steps to achieve continuous improvements through annual capital improvement planning.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align sustainable program objectives, roadmaps, milestones, communicate progress and manage key metrics
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the goals and objectives of the agency
QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major related to the responsibilities of the position, and a minimum of three (3) years related experience in urban planning, sustainability, energy management or data management is preferred. Advanced degree preferred. Knowledge of energy data management software (e.g., Energy Star Portfolio Manager) required, knowledge and past successful experience with LEED, Green Globes, BIT Building, or other green building certification programs preferred.
Must be process-oriented with proven strength in data management, performance management, and reporting. Strong analytical skills required, experience with data visualization tools preferred. Ability to multi-task, handle short and long-term projects, and work independently. Requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to coordinate the completion of assignments and project deliverables in a fast-paced environment and make presentations for a variety of audiences.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) is required. Will be required to travel to various sites throughout the City of Chicago.
Salary range: $80,000-$85,000
