By joining the Division of Water/Water Infrastructure Branch/Engineering Section as an Environmental EngineerI in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to perform reviews and inspections of plans, designs,activities, and operations related to drinking water and wastewater infrastructure to determine compliancewith environmental engineering standards.
This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
Holders of the Environmental Engineer Technologist II position will complete tasks such as:
- Review and analyze plans and specifications for drinking water and wastewater facility infrastructureconstruction projects for compliance with applicable state and/or federal regulations.
- Provide technical and engineering oversite for projects related to Emerging Contaminants.
- Perform periodic on-site construction inspections for emerging contaminant projects.
- Coordinate with local public water systems and associated partners to support projects.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering approved by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years of environmental engineering related experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in engineering approved by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in an office setting. Frequent travel throughout the state may be required.
