ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:Gannett Fleming TranSystems Wayne, PA office is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to assist our growing transportation design team.The Wayne office seeks a highly motivated Water Resources Engineer with 10-15 years of experience in H&H design to join our established transportation practice. In this role you will be responsible for the successful performance of hydrologic and hydraulic design/analysis of bridge projects along with the preparation of H&H reports. You will also work closely with other teams on multi-disciplinary projects, including permitting, bridge and roadway. In addition to transportation projects, the water resources group supports other departments engaging in planning, environmental, and land development design, particularly when floodplain management expertise is needed.
It is expected that you will function as a lead technical design engineer and depending on level of experience, you may also serve as the Project Manager of various projects. It is expected that you will work independently and will supervise the work of less experienced engineers and mentor them as you help to develop their technical and inter-personal skills.
You will be mentored by our senior staff and have the opportunity to engage and assist with new project pursuits, including Qualifications and Technical Proposal preparation, Scope of Service and Fee Proposal development, and networking opportunities through professional society events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Serve as a Water Resources Engineer for transportation, planning, and land development projects.
- Participate in field reconnaissance activities to document existing conditions for project design development.
- Prepare bridge and culvert hydraulic design plans and calculations using MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and HEC-RAS design software.
- Develop drainage and erosion control plans and calculations for transportation projects using MicroStation, GeoPak, and ORD software.
- Prepare design documents and summary reports for submittal to various owners and agencies for technical review.
- Participate in project design and review meetings as necessary.
- Communicate internally and externally with project team members, client representatives, and permitting agencies.
- Participate in the development of the project/task work plans.
QualificationsWhat you bring to our firm:- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from a 4-yr accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 10 years of related H&H design experience.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows Office Suite

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:- Master's degree in engineering
- Experience in more advanced Hydraulic Designs
Physical/Mental Demands:- Talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions:- Work in indoor office environment most of the time.
- Work in outdoor environment as needed, including rural, urban, roadside, and wooded locations as needed.
