The Senior Manager, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is a key contributor to the U.S. Performance and Customer COE (USPCCOE) Leadership Team. This role ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations for multiple sites. The selected candidate will be responsible for eight (8) U.S. Distribution Centers located strategically within the continental United States. This role will report to the U.S. Lead, Distribution Center & Logistics Service Provider Operations with a dotted line to Global EHS.
The Senior Manager, EHS is accountable for independently establishing an effective safety and environmental culture at the sites; anticipating the regulatory and compliance needs; informing management of the potential financial and operational impact of pending legislation and providing leadership through policies and services to protect the health and safety of our colleagues, protect site operations, and the public.
The Senior Manager, EHS will regularly interact with Zoetis colleagues on the shopfloor and in the office to prevent injuries, investigate incidents, and demonstrate practical EHS behaviors, work practices and solutions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:- Build strong partnerships with Leadership Team and enabling functions.
- Drives EHS Culture to Excellence.
- Manages the EHS program for the assigned Zoetis facilities.
- Provides support for construction, operations, and maintenance activities across the network.
- Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) to Leadership on all EHS aspects involved in the storage, delivery, and use of chemical materials.
- Establishes a formal program to administer the facility's hazard evaluation activities.
- Documents existing processes within the facilities which require hazard evaluation studies and provide a schedule for performing them.
- Tracks hazard evaluation recommendations and document the way each recommendation is resolved.
- Provide expert assessment of the potential impact of change control requests and technology transfer.
- Leads HAZOP reviews for new capital projects.
- Provides technical supervision to ensure the incorporation of EHS management recommendations and compliance with EHS standards for new facilities, equipment, or major modifications. Also responsible for reviewing and approving all projects involving EHS in new construction or modifications for capital and expense engineering projects.
- Develops, establishes, and coordinates the emergency team for each site.
- Ensures all operations conform to government regulations and corporate EHS procedures.
- Manages the submittal of all EHS reports in a complete and timely fashion as required by regulatory authorities or corporate procedures.
- Prepares for corporate EHS assessments and coordinates in the preparation follow-up action plans, including the timely remediation of findings. Performs periodic self-assessments as required by corporate procedures.
- Hosts government inspections, coordinates inspection reports and ensures the timely correction of any outstanding items as a result of inspections.
- Coordinates Industrial Hygiene surveys implements adequate control measures.
- Investigates serious injuries, illnesses, business interruptions and property losses directly or through site colleagues as appropriate to identify root causation and help develop measures/programs to prevent.
- Maintains emergency Spill Response and Evacuation Contingency Plans and Loss Prevention Programs as required, including coordination with insurance carrier.
- Trains colleagues/contractors on EHS program and ensure skill performance levels are maintained.
- Conducts formal and informal self-assessments to ensure compliance with established EHS standards and practices.
- Is self-directed and able to provide effective recommendations that are sustainable, systematic, and impactful solutions for complex situations (site and multi-site).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- BS Degree in Science, Engineering, Health and Safety or other relevant discipline is required. MS Degree in EHS or Risk Management is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in EHS program management in industrial setting, with 5 years of experience in PSM management processes.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) or ability to obtain is desirable.
- Strong analytical abilities to determine the impact of Safety & Compliance on the organization.

- Demonstrated success in championing change.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:- Demonstrated strengths in the following capabilities: leadership, operational management, data and financial analysis, decision-making, critical thinking and technical skills pertaining to Environmental, Health & Safety.
- Demonstrated record of innovation, focus on performance, change management, leader development with continuous improvement and development/implementation of best practices.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, coupled with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Extensive experience with continuous improvement including the development and implementation of best practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and web-based applications is required. Ability to track and analyze complex data sets.
- Thorough working knowledge and interpretation of Federal and state EHS regulations.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and collaborates effectively.
- Experienced with EHS management systems development and certification experience (ISO, VPP or similar) is desirable.
- Organize and prioritize work schedule to meet project and task deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to read and effectively interpret federal and state regulations regarding air, waste, and water/wastewater as applicable to the operations of the facility.
- Ability to analyze and understand how a decision in one area can impact another part of the operation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Must be able to access all areas of the facility, including routinely walking and climbing ladders/stairs, and occasional lifting up to 55 pounds.
