Part-Time (25+ hours/week), Non-Exempt, Benefit Eligible

Essential Position FunctionsProvide support and assistance for sustainability initiatives and CAP.- Develop and coordinate community events to promote CAP programs, education, and participation, and create an annual sustainability events calendar.
- Meet with residents, businesses, community groups, and other advocacy organizations to answer questions, educate, and share information.
- Attend various city/school events, make presentations, provide education/outreach, and distribute information to groups or individuals.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, meetings, events, and presentations as needed.
- Implement surveys as needed to support sustainability and the CAP and examine barriers to the programs and initiatives.
- Work with staff to create targeted materials that will engage and educate different stakeholders on services and activities. Assist with the preparation and information for print materials, videos, social media campaigns, and surveys.
- Work with staff to identify and build connections with community members most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
Lead outside funding research to assist the city with meeting its climate action and sustainability goals.- Develop a comprehensive understanding of funding opportunities at the state and federal level, including those available through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Inflation Reduction Act, and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
- Identify funding opportunities that align with the priorities and programs of the sustainability initiative and CAP and develop short summaries of these programs that can translate into funding applications.
- Prioritize funding opportunities based on timing and overall sustainability goals, and support application and reporting process.
Provide administrative support with programs, data and documentation.- Support research, design, and implementation of energy incentive programs for the community.
- Assist with the administrative needs of the sustainability initiative including research, analysis, reporting, performance measurement, data documentation, and correspondence.
- Develop and maintain records and information for programs.
- Develop tools to evaluate the effectiveness of related outreach and education programs.
- Lead and initiate topics and solutions with outside partners that will benefit the community advance sustainability goals.
Perform other duties and activities as assigned. - Keep supervisor informed and make recommendations on critical issues.
- Work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications - Two (2) years of experience in sustainability, environmental studies, natural resources, buildings science, public administration, communications, or a related field
-OR-
an Associate's degree in the above fields. - Two (2) years of experience conducting community outreach, grant management, or project management.
- Proven public speaking and presentation experience.
- Valid driver's license.
Things that may help you be successful in this role - Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience working in local government environment.
- Experience with programming and event management.
- Comfort with quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis.
Working Environment and Hours:- This is generally an office position with an estimated 25% of time spent intermittently outside and/or in facilities outside of the office setting.
- FLSA non-exempt, part-time position, 25-29 hours per week.

Benefits offered below are prorated for part-time employees
- Vacation accrues at a rate that equates to 3-weeks per year, with opportunities to accrue more after 10 years of employment
- Opportunities to purchase up to 40 hours of vacation, earn PTO for wellness incentives, convert sick time to vacation, volunteer hours, etc.
- Sick and safe leave will be accrued on a per pay period basis at the rate of one working day each calendar month
