Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in science or technical field, such as: engineering, chemistry, earth sciences, or biology and 1-2 years of related experience or combination of education and work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced and specialized knowledge of environmental science, water quality, data analysis, and pollution prevention practices. Specific experience with drinking water, wastewater, stormwater regulations and requirements is preferred.
- Working knowledge of domestic water, wastewater, stormwater, pollution prevention, and general environmental regulatory requirements and compliance.
- Good team ethic and ability to work well with all levels of professionals and staff, including internal and external partners for compliance and water resource protection. Including but not limited to infrastructure engineers, utility inspectors, Water Operations technicians, and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) to implement programs.
- Must be detail oriented, able to work with strict deadlines, follow-through on issues independently, be dependable, and be able to juggle several projects at the same time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Independent, energetic, well-organized, self-motivated person, who can promptly and clearly communicate with regulatory agencies, staff, faculty, students, and members of the community.
- Proficient with MS Office computer applications.

Physical Requirements*:
- Frequently sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 11-20 pounds,
- Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
- Walking and/or biking long distances during inspections and for movement around campus and to carry testing equipment, meters, and fixtures. Having a valid California driver’s license is preferred but other alternate forms of transportation may be considered.

Working Conditions:
- Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.
- May be exposed to noise > 80dB TWA.
- May working at heights 4 - 10 ft.
- May require extended hours if compliance issues need to be resolved and/or deadlines need to be met.

The expected pay range for this position is $87,256.00 to $97,800.00 per annum.
