2025 Summer Internship - RecyclingAbout the role:Your key responsibilities and accountabilities will be:- End to end management of all aspects of commodity trade operations, which includes, but is not limited to, the below:
- Contract Management Support: Assist in finalizing contractual details with the trading, contract writing, and legal teams. This includes contract review, drafting, and amendment.
- Position Management Assistance: Help in managing both physical and financial positions related to trades.
- Documentation Support: Aid in the preparation, processing, and distribution of required shipping documents, including coordinating import and export clearances, fulfilling customs requirements, sending costs for payment and issuing bills of lading.
- Quality Control Coordination: Assist in managing quality control for trades, coordinating sampling, and assay instructions with surveyors and labs.
- Communication and Coordination: Interface with warehouses, logistics service providers, and internal teams to handle inquiries or issues.
- System Updates: Update the in-house system with trade movement information, payment records, receipt of funds, and business costs.
- Trade Pricing and Hedging Support: run reports to ensure trades are priced/hedged accurately.
- P&L Estimation and Maintenance: Assist in the estimation and maintenance of trade profit and loss statements.
- Month-End Reconciliation: Support the completion of month-end reconciliation duties, including insurance declarations, closing hedging positions, inter-company and inventory reconciliation, and exposure calculation.
- Task Support: Assist other traffic personnel in ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.
- Risk and Cost Assessment: Assist in assessing risk and costs involved in business activities based on the contractual Incoterm.
As the successful candidate you will have experience in, and demonstrate the following:- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent with excellent academic record.
- Strong analysis/writing/planning skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel & Word.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, reliable, and good time management / organizational skills.
- Ambitious and entrepreneurial, willing to learn.
- Strong interest in international commodity markets.
Additional information:- This is a paid internship - $23/hour.
- In person office attendance is required in accordance with Glencore's US policy (currently Monday - Thursday).
- Office is located at 330 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10017.
- Intern will be responsible for transport costs to/from the Glencore office.
