Under the direction of the Director of Facility Services, the Manager of Environmental Services is a hands-on leader responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing tasks related to the cleanliness and sanitation of our community's buildings and grounds. This role requires stepping in to support the team during employee absences or high-demand periods, ensuring seamless operations.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Manages, coordinates, supports, and performs housekeeping, porter services, and laundry operations by monitoring work schedules & activities, fulfilling operational needs, addressing emergencies, engaging with clients, conducting inspections, and supervising the environmental services after-hour program to provide adequate coverage and team assistance. This includes but is not limited to the following actions:
- Ensure overall cleanliness of building & exterior common areas, trash & recycle areas (inside & outside), residential residences, and team areas remains satisfactory and produces sufficient results.
- Ensure operations regarding the on-site laundry facility are running effectively and efficiently.
- Meet with residents, department staff, and community partners to address general inquiries, scheduled work, escalated issues, linen needs, cleanliness standards, and operational concerns.
- Manages and maintains supply orders, material inventory (cleaning/paper/laundry supplies with related stock par levels), stock/storage organization/cleanliness, housekeeping & porter cleaning equipment, janitorial dispensers, laundry operations equipment, and environmental services vendor & supplier activities.
- Manages and maintains sanitation compliance efforts and standards, environmental safety training & procedures, and cleaning equipment & materials standards as set by NC Department of Health and Human Services, Chatham County Health Department, and/or Galloway Ridge along with established federal, state, and local laws. This includes ensuring that the facility is prepared at all times for surveyors or visitors and attending quality assurance and performance improvement meetings from an environmental services perspective.
- Performs employee management duties that include but are not limited to hiring staff, implementing discipline in accordance with GR guidelines, enforcing policies & procedures (including sanitation & cleaning), completing timeclock adjustments, completing performance evaluations, approving PTO requests, tracking staff attendance coordinating department recognition/appreciation events, equipping staff with required PPE/uniforms, and ensuring developmental & operational training are administered for specific job functions and equipment use.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services. All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on, supervisory, technical, supply ordering, and inventory management experience as it relates to housekeeping operations and infection control practices preferred.
- Knowledge working with Chatham County Environmental Health Department, NC Department of Health and Human Services, and/or other health and county regulatory agencies preferred.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of general housekeeping practices, industry knowledge of floor-care equipment, cleaning solutions, and solution mixing procedures.
- Must possess the ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets.
- Must have computer proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must be able to follow written or oral instructions.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within a diverse work group; and have the ability to cooperate with other employees and department directors.
- Must be willing and eager to work with and provide assistance to the residents of the facility.
- Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care and believe in and uphold the philosophy of the facility.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish preferred.
