PROJECT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTIONAre you ready to create a brighter energy future as part of a passionate and purpose-driven organization? The Energy Coalition (TEC) is scouting for talented Project Managers (PMs) to help our Energy Services teams develop and deliver clean energy projects across a growing portfolio of programs.
As a PM supporting Energy Services programs, you'll help communities transform their energy use and empower public agencies to execute smart strategies that build local resilience in California's transforming clean energy economy. You can expect to immediately support one or more of the Energy Services team contracts, including the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) Public Agency Programs and Inland Regional Energy Network (I-REN) programs, which engage the collective action of public agencies to save energy and money while protecting their community's valuable resources.
Top candidates bring energy efficiency experience and are dedicated to building strong partnerships with clients and public agency stakeholders. You will initiate project exploration with agencies and guide the planning and implementation of energy efficiency retrofit projects with the support of Project Coordinators and subcontractors providing technical expertise. A "details person" who enjoys data, tracking program progress, and who takes pride in ensuring quality standards will thrive in this role. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Your responsibilities will focus on energy retrofit project management, including but not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with program participants, partners, program stakeholders, and utility representatives.
- Effectively communicate expertise in energy projects, resilience, and benchmarking-related strategies to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, and facilitate action and buy-in from agency stakeholders.
- Distill program offerings, technical information, and clean energy concepts with ease and clarity in a manner consistent with client and/or TEC's goals and brand.
- Drive project execution and consistently deliver high-quality services to meet public agency and client-directed goals and to mitigate the risk of project delays.
- Problem-solve and think creatively to help agencies overcome barriers to funding, financing, and implementing all viable energy efficiency strategies, as well as barriers to data collection, benchmarking compliance, and mapping actionable roadmaps that enable energy efficiency and resilience strategies.
- Understand program processes and demonstrate excellent judgment when tailoring project delivery services and deliverables to agency needs.
- Develop, facilitate, and/or deliver presentations providing programmatic overviews to program participants and other key stakeholders.
- Effectively delegate and oversee project team work including that of colleagues and technical sub-consultants; your role may evolve to include direct supervisory responsibilities.

- Plan, coordinate, implement, and finalize projects according to agreed specifications and deadlines, within budget.
- Follow established program protocols while coordinating with agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee work by energy consulting engineers: review and approve project budgets, ensure deliverable quality and adherence to program standards, and generally direct the delivery of technical assistance services to public agencies.
- Be responsible for the accuracy and active maintenance of all customer relationship management (CRM) records and project tracking templates for assigned agencies.
- Analyze energy and building performance data to identify and plan potential energy efficiency project opportunities.
- Interpret audit findings and translate into report deliverables for public agencies.
- Perform financial feasibility analysis leveraging existing tools and evaluate implementation and funding pathways, informed by public agency stakeholder input and eligibility for incentive and financing programs.
- Maintain awareness of project budgeting and procurement processes for all assigned public agencies.
- Stay abreast of program procedural and policy updates, as well as relevant energy efficiency rebate and incentive program processes, energy benchmarking, and resilience concepts.
- Keep team manager and members informed of roadblocks to project and assignment success.

Qualifications- 3+ years of experience with project planning and coordination; public sector capital projects experience a plus.
- Experience with managing stakeholders and maintaining client relationships; does not hesitate to execute multiple strategies to obtain stakeholder "buy-in."
- Strong project management skills demonstrated by the ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing tasks; ability to complete assignments in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner; attention to detail and follow-through in tasks that meet contract deliverables.
- Strong problem-solving skills required to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner demonstrated by gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions, and working well in group problem-solving situations.
- Experience working with local governments and/or Councils of Government a plus.
- Experience developing professional materials utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace applications; Salesforce familiarity a plus.
- Expertise/familiarity in energy-related domains is a plus; examples include building energy performance, energy and climate action planning, distributed energy resources, utility rebate and incentive programs, energy-related financing, and/or policy.
- K-12 schools, community colleges, and university energy project experience is a plus.
- Experience/familiarity with Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) or other energy benchmarking tools a plus.
- Relevant industry certifications or advanced degrees in related field a plus.
- Comfort speaking and presenting to a diverse array of customers and stakeholders.
- Experience with overseeing contract scopes and budgets is preferred.
- Ability to follow established processes and adapt in real-time in response to changing environments by practicing good judgment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in English (verbal and written).
- Demonstrate interest in and knowledge of authentic community engagement, including cultural awareness, knowledge and respect of BIPOC, hard-to-reach, rural and other demographics related to TEC's mission of serving environmental justice communities.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel throughout Southern California to attend meetings and events. This position may occasionally require work outside of regular business hours.

Work Environment:This position can work remotely except when business needs require in-person attendance at meetings and events at TEC offices or customer sites. COMPENSATIONSalary: The starting base pay range for this position is $84,300 - $95,000 annually. This hiring range is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary range at the time of the posting and is subject to change. The actual compensation offered will be determined by various factors, including a candidate's experience, education, training, skills, and certifications.
