The Opportunity...This position is based in
Caguas, Puerto Rico. Manage all aspects of the photovoltaic project cycle for small commercial projects in Puerto Rico. This may include oversight and management of contractors and subcontractors, competitive bid processes, budgets and timelines, permitting, scheduling, identifying and addressing enabling upgrades, and supporting complementary initiatives like energy audits and electrification and workforce programs. The Project Manager works directly with project beneficiaries, contractors and subcontractors, partners, PV designers, and other GRID employees to ensure small commercial solar projects are developed and ready for solar installation and in compliance with program requirements.
Responsibilities... - Develop and manage small commercial photovoltaic projects in Puerto Rico, including continuing to develop projects already identified
- Work collaboratively with beneficiaries, partners, contractors and subcontractors, and GRID staff to prepare projects for solar installation
- Coordinate site evaluations to gather site specific information
- Manage competitive bid processes for solar installation companies and other vendors including working with PV Designers, sending out Request for Quotes, and making recommendations to Program staff
- Develop project proposals and manage relationships with key stakeholders including nonprofit organizations, government agencies, solar industry companies, and utilities
- Ensure permits, contracts, incentive paperwork, net metering, invoices, and interconnection agreements are completed on time
- Monitor and manage progress through a Salesforce CRM database and other project management software programs
- Work with partners to ensure beneficiaries receive education sessions about solar and energy efficiency
- Maintain comprehensive records of project development activities and identify opportunities for process improvement and best practices to enhance overall project quality
- Foster open and effective communication between all project stakeholders

What you need to bring to this role... - Must be bilingual/bi-literate English/Spanish
- Commercial solar project management experience
- Excellent understanding of solar operations workflow, as well as installation processes
- Ability to meet deadlines with strict time constraints and ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities and demanding workloads, and potentially work outside existing job description
- Excellent management/leadership skills; ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic, culturally diverse environment
- Proficient with computers/laptops/systems ;Microsoft Office and Google Suite, Zoom, Teams, etc plus the ability to quickly learn new programs
- Passion for environmental justice, sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place
- Must be able to advance the organization's equity, inclusion, and diversity work and understand that this can only be achieved within a framework of social, economic, and environmental justice
- Flexible and willing to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to rapidly growing organization

It would be great if you also had... - Certificate, degree or license in solar
- General construction knowledge, experience, and skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, Asana, Sketchup or AutoCAD
Where you will sit and the places you may go...Looking for this position to start February 2025, this position will be located in Caguas, Puerto Rico. This position will require significant travel to project sites within Puerto Rico. This position may require up to 10% out-of-town travel to GRID's regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
Lets Talk Money!This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($55,000-$65,000 annually), plus comparable benefits below.
