Supplemental InformationGuest Service Attendant (Pool)Job DutiesThe Hastings Family Aquatic Center Guest Service Attendant performs a variety of tasks at the facility's front desk, concession area, and at the top of two outdoor water slides. The minimum age is 15 years old.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Consistently promote a positive, professional image of the Hastings Family Aquatic Center (HFAC) and provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Serve as the first contact for HFAC patrons, and consistently provide a high-quality customer service experience to each patron contacted.
- Register patrons into programs and sell memberships; including season passes, punch cards, swim lessons, water aerobics, and water walking.
- Check patrons into the HFAC open swim or programs.
- Assist and provide information to the public and HFAC volunteers and employees.
- Answer telephones, and relay messages as necessary.
- Perform cash handling duties, including payment reconciliation, and check or credit card authorization.
- Perform routine walk-through inspections of the HFAC locker rooms and grounds.
- Consistently demonstrate positive, effective communication skills and interactions with the Shift Leaders, Supervisors, employees and volunteers, other agencies and organizations, and the public.
- Safely use the equipment, tools, and materials consistent with the manufacturer or product directions or specifications, and use industry-accepted safe working methods and techniques;
- Understand and comply with the HFAC rules, policies and procedures, including the rules, policies, and procedures contained in the HFAC Employee Handbook.
- Participate in/with HFAC special events and activities; including birthday parties and after-hour rentals.
- Troubleshoot problems that arise.
- Defuse and remain calm under stressful situations according to HFAC policy and training.
- Operate a variety of office equipment and concession equipment, including, but not limited to, computer, multi-line telephone system, voice mail system, internet, and stereo system.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all office and concession equipment.
- Perform routine cleaning of work areas as needed;
- Maintain supplies for the front desk area and concession area.
- Perform a daily inventory of concession items.
- Properly prepare concession food items according to the Department of Health standards and codes.
- Understand and comply with water slide rules and regulations when allowing patrons to use the ride.
- Perform other assigned duties from time to time.
Uniform Requirement- When GS staff are scheduled to work at the front desk and tops of the slides, they are required to wear Guest Service shirts, flip flops or other comfortable appropriate shoes, a one-piece swim suit for females or swim trunk for males. Appropriate shorts are worn over female swim suits. If males opt not to wear swim trunks, they are also required to wear appropriate shorts.
- For guest service working front desk and slides, plain blue or black sweat pants are acceptable on cold weather days.
- When guest service staff are scheduled to work in the concessions stand, they are required to wear the concessions shirt, appropriate shorts, and closed-toe tennis shoes. All concessions staff must wear an HFAC issued visor with hair pulled back. If the hair is not pulled back, the employee must wear a hair net.
- Male staff must be clean-shaven.
- Female staff must have clean, short fingernails free of polish.
- Guest service staff will be issued sweatshirts to be worn during colder weather. No other sweatshirt or jacket is acceptable.
Guest Service Shift Leader (Pool)Job DutiesThe Hastings Family Aquatic Center Guest Service Attendant Shift Leader performs a variety of tasks at the facility's front desk, concession area, and at the top of two outdoor water slides. Must have 1+ years of Hastings Family Aquatic Center experience.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to the Guest Service Attendant job duties, the Shift Leader will also be responsible for the following:
- Oversee the successful completion of job duties of Guest Service Attendants during open swim hours.
- Ensure cash reconciliation at the end of each shift and securing the
cash in safe at end of each shift. - Participate in assisting with preparation and facilitating in-service training.
- Assist with on-the-job training of new staff with the registration of patrons into programs and facility entrance.
- Must have strong leadership skills.
- Respond to the concerns of the public in the concessions stand area.

Job DutiesThe purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of all in-water activities for patrons at the Hastings Family Aquatic Center. In addition, this position is responsible for the supervision of lifeguards while on the deck. This position involves lifeguard evaluating to ensure staff is scanning properly, maintaining professionalism, and properly enforcing rules. Head guards will be expected to perform daily tasks required for the upkeep and maintenance of the outdoor facility and related equipment and ensure that all lifesaving equipment is present and operational for all water activities.
Head guards will be required to pass both a written and skills test demonstrating the physical and technical skills necessary to carry out emergency procedures prior to hire. Head guards will ensure that opening and closing job duties are completed by other staff. Head guards will undergo supervisor training throughout the course of the summer. This position reports to the Facility Manager.

Activity Supervisor (Pool) Job DutiesThe HFAC Supervisor coordinates the total operation of the Aquatic Center during the hours of 4:45 am and noon when programming includes lap swim, swim team practice, swimming lessons, and tons of tots. There will be NO open swim time while the recreation supervisor is on duty. Responsibilities include supervision of personnel, administration of aquatic center programs, public relations, and meeting State Health and Safety Standards in the absence of the Facility Manager.
A.Qualifications
- Must have 3+ years of experience at Hastings Family Aquatic Center.
- Must have prior Hastings Family Aquatic Center experience.
- Must be knowledgeable of guest service and concession operations.
Experience:
- Previous shift leader, guest service lead, or head guard experience desired.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Must have the ability to multitask during the early morning hours.
- Must be willing to participate in EAP training prior to employment.
Preferred certifications:

- Maintain a professional, mature, and positive teaching style while instructing.
- Answer any questions related to the progress of individual students.
- Instruct private lessons as assigned by the Facility Manager.
- It can also be certified by the American Red Cross in Water Safety Instruction (WSI), CPR, AED, and First Aid.
Swim Lesson Aide-internal position only
Job DutiesThis position is responsible for assisting with instructing participants in the Hastings Family Aquatic Center swim lesson program. Participants in this program vary in age from infant beginner to adult experience. The Hastings Family Aquatic Center Learn-to-Swim program instructs an average of 550 participants during the summer season. Aides should seek certification by the American Red Cross in Water Safety Instruction for Aides (WSIA), CPR, AED, and First Aid.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities- Aide the instruction of the Learn-to-Swim program participants while following Hastings Family Aquatic Center swim lesson guidelines.
- Evaluate all students in their assigned class (i.e. Report cards, mid-session reports, Addendums).
- Assist instructor with the retrieval of equipment prior to the start of the lesson.
- Attend the end of session meetings and in-services as scheduled.
- Maintain professional, mature, and positive teaching/assisting style while aiding.
- Answer any questions related to the progress of individual students.
