Reporting to the Vice President of HSE with matrix reporting to the Senior Vice President of IFS&M, this role will develop and implement HSE policies, conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. The HSE Manager will collaborate with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and industry partners to drive environmental sustainability and responsible business practices while also delivering training programs to enhance employee safety and compliance. Through a proactive and collaborative approach, this role will contribute to the well-being of employees, regulatory adherence, and the overall success of Ainsworth's safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: - Implement the company's HSE strategy, policies, and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HSE inquiries, consultations, and communications with clients, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community stakeholders for the business units assigned.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to promote HSE excellence across all stages of the project lifecycle, from planning to execution.
- Identify and address client and/or customer-specific HSE requirements, ensuring that the company's HSE initiatives and standards meet or exceed client expectations and contractual obligations.
- Serve as a liaison to address and resolve any client concerns related to safety and environmental compliance.
- Collaborate with clients to assess potential HSE risks and develop customized safety and environmental solutions that align with client-specific goals and industry regulations.
- Engage in new business pursuits as the HSE single point of contact and speak as the SME on the organizations behalf in these processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented HSE strategies, providing regular reports to clients and suggesting improvements to maintain high standards of compliance and performance.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HSE regulations, codes, and standards, applying them across the company's operations to minimize risks and ensure legal adherence.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, mitigate risks, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of health and safety programs, providing regular performance reports to senior management for review.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs for employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders, ensuring consistent awareness and adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Oversee investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence and improve overall safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all HSE incidents, injuries, and corrective actions, preparing reports for senior management, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders as required.
- Monitor environmental performance metrics and conduct environmental impact assessments, while developing and implementing initiatives aimed at improving sustainability, resource efficiency, and reducing environmental footprints.
- Serve as a key member of the HSE leadership team, contributing to the continuous development and refinement of organizational HSE policies, programs, and initiatives. Represent the HSE function in cross-functional meetings and forums to ensure cohesive safety and environmental strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the VP of HSE to ensure alignment of HSE priorities with overall corporate objectives, actively seeking guidance and support to overcome challenges and achieve corporate safety and environmental goals. Additionally, provide regular reporting to the Senior Vice President of Integrated Facilities Services & Maintenance to ensure that HSE initiatives are aligned with operational objectives and driving success within the organization
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in HSE management, preferably within the facilities management, mechanical contracting, construction, or engineering industries.
- Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of applicable HSE regulations, standards, and best practices across the United States.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and engage teams, drive change, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders and negotiate win-win solutions.
- Ability to travel within the US and Canada as required
