Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of correct gardening practices and experience in all aspects of routine garden maintenance.
• Knowledge of most gardening tools and outdoor power equipment, i.e. Lawn mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, cultivators, etc.
• Knowledge and experience identifying weeds, pests, and diseases and how to treat them.
• Proper plant care knowledge/ Planting, Pruning, Dividing, Transplanting
• Knowledge of native perennials, annuals, vegetables, trees, and shrubs.
• Basic knowledge of landscape construction (preferred)
• Knowledge of soils, amendments, and fertilizers.
• Have an understanding of our unique, diverse climate and the challenges that new gardeners face.
• Have an understanding of gardening in higher elevations.
• Have experience planting, mulching, and irrigating gardens and lawns.
• Garden and lawn clean-up and preparing for the winter months.
• Ability to teach team members as well as customers the above-mentioned information.
• Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
• Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• Must always work with respect and cooperation with fellow employees and the public.
• A positive team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to safely lift 40 pounds.
Availability:
This job requires working weekends, evenings, and holidays from May to mid-July.
The store is closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.
This position can be part-time or full-time as well as seasonal or permanent.
Compensation:
Pay range $17.50 - $19.00 per hour depending on skill level, experience, and availability.
